Still think he needs to get a bit bigger so he can handle the contested balls a bit better, but he's coming along nicely. He's a bit too spoil-happy when he could clearly mark the footy, but that will come with more experience I would think.

He's not the only one guilty of this. I vividly remember Hombsch spoiling the ball over the boundary uncontested on the wing in the showdown. Think it may have been 2nd quarter.

He didn't bung the kick. He went to kick a torp - and mostly got it - it just had a bit of a wobble that made it look like a mongrel punt.

Yes that one made me cringe. I've noticed Howard has been more prone to it than others though.

Pretty sure Dustin Fletcher had a pretty handy career without a 'great build'. Doogs will build strength as he gets older and give me a 200cm athlete with his attributes and intelligence any day of the week. Plus mental strength to over come a serious knee injury. YES we have a beauty and wouldn't 17 other clubs love him on their list.

I'd hope he develops his additional weight in a few years. Clurey, Jonas and Homsche will play the lock down rolls for the next 3-5 years. Howard should play the more mobile role and use his speed to get to contests. When he starts to slow down, he can get bigger.

I think Fletcher is a good example of maintaining flexibility, speed and leap can be more valuable than a Carlile bulk.
