With Pick 69 the Fremantle Dockers select..

Lloyd Meek

DOB: 22/4/1998
POSITION: Ruck
HEIGHT: 202cm
WEIGHT: 106kg
DRAFTED FROM: GWV Rebels (VIC)

Lloyd Meek is a ruckman who hails from Mininera, Western Victoria.

At 202cm and 106kg, Meek is a great size for an AFL ruck and has the shape to develop into a strong young man.

Playing as a 19-year-old for the Greater Western Victoria Rebels in 2017, Meek showed significant improvements in all aspects of his game.

Good TAC form for the Rebels resulted in Meek being selected for four senior VFL games and performed admirably against AFL listed opponents.

A solid athlete and clean at ground level for his size, the 19-year-old is also very capable with the ball in hand.

Meek was also selected for Vic Country for one game in 2017 and had a pretty even battle against the eventual All Australian ruckman, Brayden Crossley, after representing Vic Country twice at the 2016 Carnival.

Sounds like a Seinfeld character.

Nice to have another young ruck, hopefully they have some aggro and push each other for a spot.

Will also be a year for ol Apeness too...

Meek was my pick in the BigFooty Phantom. When I'm not on my phone, I can copy my write up into here.

But I really like him. Think he's the perfect backup for Darcy, even if they may be a bit too similar to play together. If anything, his marking is more advanced than Darcy's though. He won't ever play as a forward, but he can rest there and not be a liability.

I don't buy into this whole thing about big rucks being obsolete now. Richmond didn't win the flag because they went in with one ruck. They won because of Dustin Martin. They haven't changed the game. Having depth in your ruck stocks is a good thing.

You guys have a star, incredible character on and off the field. Have followed his journey over the past two years, as a local journo here at one of the newspapers around the area. His efforts to get back involved this year after missing out last year speaks volumes. He has always been happy to have a chat along the way and I wish him and you all the best in this partnership.

Also, I spoke to him this morning for a piece. Please click the link and give me a few page views - http://www.araratadvertiser.com.au/story/5080515/meek-set-for-move-to-perth/ jokes but he does talk really well. Good luck folks!
