Will pin the consensus rankings I put together in this thread, too

for me it's the willingness to die the slow death, club just waiting for us to bottom out before taking action on Goodwin. A decent club like Hawthorn, Collingwood, Geelong etc would have told him to overhaul the game plan at the end of 22' and he certainly wouldn't have been re-signed in 23' when he failed to do so. Good clubs don't celebrate decent H&A seasons.
Lol also all of them reference 21 like we are still that team is ****ing cringe. Imagine Richmond saying they were trying to get back to their 2020 form still lol

Getting back on topic, I've made it pretty clear than Smith and Draper are my dreams for 5, though would settle for any of those two, Langford, Lalor and FOS.

It's a bit murkier with 9. Reid I'm pretty set on (though I sort of get the argument that we may not want to draft him and Langford together due to pace concerns). Tauru won't be on the board at nine, so can rule him out.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Allan is who we draft though. He's a Dees/JT archetype – big bodied, defensive, 'explosive', long kick but not a particularly good kick, and Western Australian. Could see them slotting him in as a Rivers replacement down back before eventually moving him into the middle.

I wouldn't be displeased with Allan, so long as we also take one of those 'big five' mids, as he doesn't offer too much in the way of points of difference to what we already have.

I do wonder if Hotton and Lindsay are worth considering here though as they'll give us a bit of a different look (Lindsay with his kicking, Hotton with pace/X-factor).

Agree in general.

Langford / Reid or Langford / Allan would be great.

FOS or Taura would be strong too, but feel a little more risk v. reward.

If they are keen on changing the game plan, we will need more runners.

I’m a big fan of Langford for our first pick (who isn’t fast), so would be happy with any of Lindsay, Travaglia, Hotton, Allen with pick 9.

Would be happy with Allan at 9 if it was with one of Smith or Draper. I honestly dont think Allan and Langford and are that far apart as players. Langford probably the sexier name coz he can play forward while Allan can play back, I suppose you could make an argument for drafting both Langford and Allan in that respect since they can play at opposite ends of the ground but two bigger body mids which lack speed isnt really what I hope we do. Wouldnt love it, but its not like i really hate it either.

Like Tauru but hes hardly a need and I think hes going about 5-10 picks ahead of where he should actually be picked because of North's dreadful backline. Very much hoping its just a bluff by us at 5 in hopes of getting North to take him even earlier than they really need to.

So much of what we do at 5 impacts what I think we should do at 9

If we got Langford at 5... give me Reid or Lindsay ideally.
If we got Smith or Draper at 5.... open to many different options, dont think we can really go wrong.

This is where I'm at. If we get one of the speedy/agile mids at 5 I can pretty much relax and roll with whatever we do with 9.

If we go slow or left field bolter at 5 then what we do at 9 becomes really important and could be meltdown material.
