I hav'nt watched him very closely this year so I would'nt know If thats what he is worth.

If he is then that's fine but i don't think Hawthorn would do it.

Surely pick 25 + someone like Jaryd Morton would get it done would'nt it?

Seriously though the Hawks will need a better offer than 25 & ther's no way he'd last in the PSD til the Hawks pick. Swans would definately grab him for whaeva amount he stuck on his head. I am not too upset by this , it may work out well for us me thinks. When i heard a North player had walked out i near had a movement in my pants thinkin'- Wells , Zeibell , Anthony or Wright etc - Gibbo is a good player , but his area isn't our weakness i believe.

thuck man... I think he will be twice the player for the Hawks that Hay was for us so... to be fair... Gibbo has to be worth pick 9 plus another pick under 20... sounds logical to me... : maybe we would consider 9 and Dowler... but you would have to pay some of Dowler"s salary...

You guys overrate gibson big time, Lake is worth pick 9, Gibson is a late 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder at best. The guy isnt a genuine key defender.

Your best bet is a player for player trade or take the 2nd or 3rd round pick for him and be thankfull that you get somthing in return.

Nothing worse then hearing people say f"k him he can go in the psd we dont care where he goes. Better off with somthing rather then nothing, who knows u might pick up the next james hird with a 3rd round pick etc that you may receive for gibson

Match payments would only have him close to 60k. However other performance clauses may be in the contract which would move it closer to 6 figures, but not quite.

You are missing the point here, just like several other hawthorn supporters here. Us losing Gibson is of lesser concern than you guys not getting Gibson. You guys have no chance of getting Lake, you guys will never get the Croad of old and if you don't get Gibson, you guys will be forced to move Roughead back into defense cos without Croad, you guys will have no one who can take on an opposition powerhouse forward. I know how the Hawthorn think, Hawks will pretend to be in a stronger position to bluff us into thinking rather getting pick 25 than nothing. But i am afraid you guys are currently in the premiership window, we are not yet. If you guys don't get a kp defender, it will really hurt premiership chance and ur window will last another 2 years. Unlike us at NM, our window won't open until 2011 at the earliest. Emphasis mine. If it comes down to a situation where it's take pick 25 or get nothing for him, then you will accept pick 25. It would be totally irrational to do otherwise.

At least we know what the first offer on the table is, there is only one way to go from here. I think his value is better than just pick 25 but not a pick 9 candidate. Trick here is to find the balance between the 2 and the deal is done. There is enough young talent on your list that Brad Scott would find attractive to add to the pick 25 imo.
