Analysis Pick Mitch Harvey now, not in 2017!!

It's definitely time to start trying out Harvey so we can at least get a benchmark of his progress and see how he handles AFL level footy. Hell maybe even think about putting Butcher back in for a last ditch 'sink or swim' shot. The season can't get any worse :drunk::cry:

Schulz' time is over. He's done a lot of good for this club but his ability has fallen off a cliff this year. He will not be part of our next flag, if we try to push reset and go again next year with him as our only proper tall forward we are taking the piss. We need to plan and implement a new forward line structure NOW or we are behind the 8-ball again.

With what ken has shown us there will be no way he will get a gig, kens inability is running right through this club something has to change as he has lost the plot imo.

Harvey should play.
It won't effect the result - all the fumbles, missed tackles, sloppy kicks, panicked decisions of his older teammates will instead.

But we do need a glimpse into our future key forward stocks.

Right now I'm desperate for us to use our top 10 pick for a key forward, but also mindful that our midfield leaves much to be desired.

I like this thread, and I like the premise behind it because I'm extremely impressed in what we've seen recently from Mitch as the head of the FWD line.

However.....

His selection would mean we have given up on the season and we are selecting for development. He is not ready for AFL but he could benefit from it massively. So is the short term pain worth it?
yes now

It's time to develop this man. 1-2 games in the AFL would be worth more to Harvey then half a year in the SANFL. Show him what it is like, show him what he needs to get too. Worst case he fails. But with Sydney and collingwood why not just give him a go

Because we can't even drop Hartlett and Jonas, that's why. That's why Krak was so great being forward, when's the last time we have all been excited by a move? Ken needs to do these kinds of changes in a pro-active sense not re-active.

The season is cooked people, we should start dropping the well played under performing players and play the future kids.... I really like Amon, Impey, Hoon etc.... we just need a CHF and FF big time.

Yeah I just posted what I think our holes are in the list management thread, CHF and FF were left open.

Agreed, it looks obvious from that evidence, with a key forward like Hawkins ( or any tall forward ) spending 25% more of his time in the forward 50 than his opposite number ( ie Schultz on this occasion ) has to give his team more scoring opportunities, simply by being there.

Schultzy goes upfield so often that the ploy has to be part of the gameplan, because if it wasn't the runner would be out to him on a regular basis sending him back to where he is supposed to be.

This season is looking too much like Choco's horror years, where plan A was kick it to Tredrea, and when that wasn't working, Plan B was bring Tredrea up to the wing, and kick it to Tredrea.

That is EXACTLY what happened, and is happening

Haven't seen him play enough to comment but would love to see another key position player get a chance. Questions I have regardless of who it is at CHF,
- Confidence is a big part of the game, is away to Sydney the right game to debut.
- If Ryder is ready can we play both and if so who will miss out.
- Is this kid ready to hit and bust open a pack and if so, who's got his back.

If The Big Ranga kicks 3 or 4 against North at Prospect - his old stomping ground - and Ken doesnt pick him for the Collingwood game, then you know we are in for a long few years until the contract runs out.

I want to see the big kid play but he'll probably do stupid things like lead up the middle of the ground and never see the ball. After he's been subbed on 10 minutes into the last quarter.

Everyone knows we want to go up the middle so opponents push us wide.We just haven't got the footy smarts to head back to the middle.

if ken doesn't have the minerals right now to pull the trigger & just f***ing play him, i'm convinced ken expects one our young forwards to kick 100 goals in a season on sanfl before he thinks it's the right time to play a young key forward. we all know he won't play however. we will just run them off their feet, right?

Pick him this week. Sunday night walking from the GDV to my car I thought Docklands would be the one ground that his fitness would be exposed. But last night I saw a bit of the North v Essendon game and saw that Essendon were playing McKerrnan in the ruck. Harvey can ruck against him.

But Ken wont do it
Schulz kicked 3
Ryder kicked 3 could have been 6 or 7 so he is seen as a target
Lobbe does bugger all in ruck but kicks 2 goals
Westhoff how many marks did he take at CHF and how many goals did he kick? - on thats right the CHF that plays at CHB wont get dropped.

and we only just lost and never gave up so I cant hurt my boys.

He didn't kick a goal, he needs to kick 5+ for 7 weeks to get a look in.

Liability. His defender will rack up the disposals, he's no where near being imposing enough to have a player even bother with marking him up.
How do you know that for sure if you have never seen it at AFL level? Get the ball in his hands and he kicks a couple the defender will piss his pants and sit on him.
