yes nowI like this thread, and I like the premise behind it because I'm extremely impressed in what we've seen recently from Mitch as the head of the FWD line.
However.....
His selection would mean we have given up on the season and we are selecting for development. He is not ready for AFL but he could benefit from it massively. So is the short term pain worth it?
It's time to develop this man. 1-2 games in the AFL would be worth more to Harvey then half a year in the SANFL. Show him what it is like, show him what he needs to get too. Worst case he fails. But with Sydney and collingwood why not just give him a go
Because we can't even drop Hartlett and Jonas, that's why. That's why Krak was so great being forward, when's the last time we have all been excited by a move? Ken needs to do these kinds of changes in a pro-active sense not re-active.
The season is cooked people, we should start dropping the well played under performing players and play the future kids.... I really like Amon, Impey, Hoon etc.... we just need a CHF and FF big time.
It's becoming pretty obvious. Imagine Wingard and co running around a decent (Tredrea, Walker, Hawkins type) - someone who can hurt people in marking attempts....Yeah I just posted what I think our holes are in the list management thread, CHF and FF were left open.
Agreed, it looks obvious from that evidence, with a key forward like Hawkins ( or any tall forward ) spending 25% more of his time in the forward 50 than his opposite number ( ie Schultz on this occasion ) has to give his team more scoring opportunities, simply by being there.
Schultzy goes upfield so often that the ploy has to be part of the gameplan, because if it wasn't the runner would be out to him on a regular basis sending him back to where he is supposed to be.
This season is looking too much like Choco's horror years, where plan A was kick it to Tredrea, and when that wasn't working, Plan B was bring Tredrea up to the wing, and kick it to Tredrea.
Everyone knows we want to go up the middle so opponents push us wide.We just haven't got the footy smarts to head back to the middle.I want to see the big kid play but he'll probably do stupid things like lead up the middle of the ground and never see the ball. After he's been subbed on 10 minutes into the last quarter.
Problem is we don't have players brave enough to occupy the centre square when we're attacking or smart enough to defend it properly when the opposition is.Everyone knows we want to go up the middle so opponents push us wide.We just haven't got the footy smarts to head back to the middle.
Agreed, Harvey in.Bullshit he will take more marks than Hombsch at Full forward and he is more aggresive than anyone we have in our forward line.
He didn't kick a goal, he needs to kick 5+ for 7 weeks to get a look in.Pick him this week. Sunday night walking from the GDV to my car I thought Docklands would be the one ground that his fitness would be exposed. But last night I saw a bit of the North v Essendon game and saw that Essendon were playing McKerrnan in the ruck. Harvey can ruck against him.
But Ken wont do it
Schulz kicked 3
Ryder kicked 3 could have been 6 or 7 so he is seen as a target
Lobbe does bugger all in ruck but kicks 2 goals
Westhoff how many marks did he take at CHF and how many goals did he kick? - on thats right the CHF that plays at CHB wont get dropped.
and we only just lost and never gave up so I cant hurt my boys.
How do you know that for sure if you have never seen it at AFL level? Get the ball in his hands and he kicks a couple the defender will piss his pants and sit on him.Liability. His defender will rack up the disposals, he's no where near being imposing enough to have a player even bother with marking him up.
