Pies make Jolly offer

You will not get 14 and Dawes, if you want Dawes you would be looking at our second round pick. He was pick 20 in a super draft and would have been higher bit for his knee. He is ready to go and I seriously doubt we will consider any trade for him.

I have heard Jolly will retire if a trade to a Vic club cannot be done as his wife has pretty much said she is coming home regardless.

Seems a little dubious in my opinion but eh anythings possible in postulating

The question then is whether another Vic club will offer something better than pick 14.

Melb - probably no, doesn't fit their window (would they consider ontrading the brock mcclean pick?
Richmond - probably not
Ess - no
Hawks - yes but they seem committed to burgoyne
North - no
Carlton - no and pick supposedly committed to Melbourne
Saints - no
Doggies - no

Would love to get him for 14 but that is an absolute steal, Sydney getting shafted.

fyp.

If that is the case, then Jolly should take his balls out of his wife's purse and actually be a man then, hey? :)

Yea, he should just kill off his marriage and throw away potentially another 45-50 years with the woman he loves just for a couple more years of football with the Swans

Nobody calls Tom Harley 'pussywhipped' for considering leaving the Captaincy of a Premiership team to live with his wife in Sydney.

Just heard Roos say 'we got him for pick 15 and he is better now than when we got him, so we will want something better than that'.

Could he say anything more irrelevant?

Swans got him when he was 22-23yrs old, now he is 28yrs old and will probably only gradually get worse.

How is it more irrelevant? And getting worse? Based on what?
2009 was his best season to date. Ruckman almost always come into their prime at his age.

How is it not relevant? A ruckman (who has played in two Grand Finals with one premiership), who is in his prime and has about 4-5 years at the top level left (has not missed a game for the Swans).

We payed pick #15 when he was a nobody, and now he is one of the better rucks in the competition, in his prime and UNDER CONTRACT no less.

We should expect a first rounder and reasonable player in return.

to bad he is going to hawthorne unless collingwood can come to the table.
if you paid pick 14 for wood your willing to pay double for jolly

And with the draft having "lack of depth" then Jolly would be more so crucial wouldn't you think?

What has a 28 year old ruckman got to do with the depth of the draft?

Even in the deepest draft, with the best young rucks, you still have to wait 3-4 years after drafting a ruckman to see his true potential.

The strength of the draft may relate to what pick we give Sydney, but it has no relation to Jolly apart from that.

Pretty much what the thread is about as there are no decent rucks in the draft as of yet

Edit: Maybe Fitzpatrick

Wood was a 20 year old, rising star nominated kid who was drafted at 18 with 10 years left in the game. They are completely incomparable.

Lets be realistic here..

We Did give pick 14 for Cameron Wood, and he had barely played a game..
Yes he was 7 or 8 years younger, but an unknown talent..

He could have been an absolute dud, but he has turned out to be a half decent player..

Darren Jolly averages 31 hitouts a game.. Josh Fraser averages 17..

So potentially our players would have the oppurtunity of first use another 14 times a game..

If sydney were willing, i would trade Josh Fraser and pick 30 for Jolly..

They would have Seaby and Fraser in the ruck and Myke Pyke as a backup..!

Which still leaves pick 14 to try and get one of Fevola or Ball, with the option, if the rumours are true regarding Leon Davis.. Trying to obtain West Coasts pick 7.

Leon Davis and Shannon Cox for pick 7..

Pick 7 and Dawes for Fevola.

Pick 14 for Luke Ball..

Gains: Jolly, Fevola, Ball

Losses: Fraser, Davis, Dawes, Cox, Pick 7, 14 and 30..

Davis and Dawes the only two real losses in all that..

and our premiership chances over the next 4 years doubles..

Why waste your time trying to figure out whats best ?..it matters zero what you would LIKE..and no point kidding yourself Syd CAN accept that crap.

Its not difficult to figure out ..either u want the bloke or u dont.

With any luck the pies will procrastinate and be just as cheap about it too :D

Best result is he stays exactly where he is tyvm :thumbsu:

Maybe u blokes should just concentrate on getting Fevola..obviously arnt interested in Jolly and unlikely u can get both so try for one.

Fu*%in LOVE it!

Lock it in Eddie! I'm gettin Jolly just thinkin about it ;)

Jesus wept, 30 and Fraser for Jolly? How does pick 28 and Playfair for Cloke sound?

Fraser is still a very good player, but isn't what we need anymore..

If Jolly goes, who is gonna ruck for you..? Seaby will be your number 1 ruckman considering Jesse White is being developed into a forward..

Fraser averages 18 possessions a game and uses the ball well..

He's a year younger than Jolly, and arguably is coming of his best year..

Did you actually watch any football this year..?

So in your eyes, what is a realistic trade..????

and if a trade does come about where jolly goes to either hawthorn or collingwood, who will your second ruckman be..??

Why not? Sydney's whole reason as to why they are not accepting pick 14 is that they paid 15 for him...well we paid pick 1 for Fraser and are willing to pass him on!

how much would you pay for
A) a mechnically sound BMW?
B) a broken down probably not going to run as well as it did before BMW?

thought so.
