As part of Hine's recruiting, he has a very statistical based technique to rate players and not just your usual tackles, marks, kicks obviously - but everything about the player. For example - based on his statistics last year, Elliot was his highest rated player with 68 points, almost doubling Patton on 38 who was second and Devon Smith on 37 who was third. Obviously, after this alot of other factors would be taken into account - but it is interesting nonetheless.
Elliot's score was probably skewed due to him playing only a handful of games and in those games his stats were uncomparable. But I am not going to raise a whimper about who we pick.

I have learnt not to read too far into the Facebook groups, but the one run by Paige is the best of them and they have just said that GC have interviewed Lonergan and Garner this morning heavily, and Pies have been spending a lot of time with SImpson and that he might be a slider.
Personally, I think all recruiters will be talking to just about every player in case he slides.
But you would think GC would be pretty certaint he type of player they'll take so interesting to note that are spending time with Garner and Lonergan.
We all thought they would go Simpson, so that might mean he slides to us after all...although still has to get through a few picks...and obviously we need to be convinced he is happy to leave his child behind or relocate them here.

I must say, seemingly contrary to most posters here; I couldn't give a flying **** if any or none of our recruits can play round 1, 2013. It would be the farthest thing from my mind if I was drafting for us tonight.

Yeah I wouldn't have been looking at a ruck with our first 3 picks...but then again I never expected Grundy to be available. Don't think you could possibly pass up. Witts and Grundy would make an awesome combination.

Am i alone in preferring that stringer slides to us rather than grundy? I think that with gault witts moore our young ruck stocks are fine and stringer is a serious talent
No you aren't. Would love Stringer and Grundy would not solve our woes next season if Jolly got a LTI.

Gault is unlikely to be a #1 ruck. Moore is two years away from being draft able and is also unlikely to be a #1 ruck.
If we don't get Grundy, I hope we get Currie.

Might be easier for the young rucks to compete with the new ruck rules, from what i've heard he's pretty much ready to go.

dont worry about that. He finds the ball and is deadly within the 50m either passing off or around goal.
i probably went a bit too far liking him to a white Cyril a couple years back but he was that bloody exciting. Never would have thought it was a possibility that he could fall this low at the start of the year
