Quite sad really, the fact that Collingwood have had 1 win, by 18pts against last years wooden spooners, who were missing many of their key players. They claim they are premiers already, shows what a drought of victories do to a team.

What makes players, "key" players? Does the fact that they played last year make them a "key" player? Does the fact that they have potential make them a "key" player? Please tell me. As far as I know the only player that as been consistent for the Saints, has played for the Saints before and
is a "key" player is Harvey. There are other players that were missing but their inclusion probably woun't make much difference. Please don't say Fraser Gherig, he hasn't proved himself at the Saints yet.

What you seem to be forgetting is that Collingwood led by something like 44 points early in the last quarter, took their foot off the gas and slowed down. As everyone always says, "its on Ansett Cup", well you are dead right. What is the point in pushing yourself to the limit?

Lastly, who the hell (seriously) claimed Collingwood to be this years Premiers? Sarcasm is the key word and much of it seems to be coming from other teams' supporters. I have posted numerous times before that I don't expect Collingwood to finish higher than 10th this year but higher would be an absoloute bonus, not something expected.

The Saints looked utterly pathetic, but I am not ready to throw in the towel due to one poor performance on February 16.

What we are looking is a team with one third of its list being new recruits. We have a new administation and a completely new coaching staff. It will take time for things to gel. This and the fact that footballs have only been out for a month down at Moorabin (or Monash), leaves little to be too concerned about. Also a few men that go by the names Harvey, Gehrig and Lawrence should have some impact on our performance.

No-one likes to go and see their team play a poor brand of footy, but it is certainly not panic stations as yet. Full credit to Collingwood however, who looked as switched on as any club, however could this be the familiar scenario in which they peak too early? Time will tell.
