I cant recall Brown getting beaten last year. agree he doesn't have a great short kicking or vision and prefers to kick to another post code. still I can live with that if he beats the gorilla's.
He also has a habit of handballing it straight to the opposition or to someone about to get tackled.
He is a great stopper but the offensive side of his game is horrible, when you add those together he is a solid player.
I believe AFL is 2016 has gone past players who "only" do one role. If you look at the best teams, nearly all their defenders can provide great offensive rebound (Hodge Gibson Birchall Burgoyne ect) and their forwards are great at providing defensive pressure (Rioli Puopolo Gunston ect).
If we want to taste premiership glory again we need to seriously upgrade our defence, Williams and Ramsay look to be a good start, Marsh is still a mystery but apart from that we're lacking a bit, particularly for talls. Brown and Reid won't be around for much longer and it's hard to know where Keeffe stands
