I watched the replay this evening and a line from Matt Hill caught my attention.

Bailey Scott had won just 12 games out of 102. It’s now 13 out of 103 (13%).

It made me go have a look further. Obviously the following statistics will come as no surprise to anyone given what we’ve been through:

Paul Curtis - 8/61 (13%)
Tom Powell - 10/70 (15%)
Harry Sheezel - 7/46 (15%)
Tristan Xerri - 10/58 (18%)
Luke Davies-Uniacke* - 22/110 (20%)
Nick Larkey - 24/119 (21%)
Cam Zurhaar - 28/123 (23%)

Now why do I think it’s worth highlighting? They’re all still here. All bar LDU are signed on. And they’re all players that could make money elsewhere.

You could argue some are too young to go looking elsewhere. I disagree. JHF proved that. For example, SA clubs would have jumped all over Powell had the same sort of request come.

For anyone who’s played footy at any level, you would know that losing sucks. It makes you consider whether the grass is greener elsewhere. Or perhaps, to give it away all together e.g. Stephenson.

I commend this group and obviously there are more that have suffered. But this group specifically got a well deserved taste of what winning, and winning well, feels like on the weekend. Hopefully this is just the beginning of the rewards for sticking fat.

Yeh here’s fat

Paying $500 for nothing in 2020 and 2021

Watching the worst performances in the Clubs history

Being the laughing stock in our workplaces and social settings

Losing games from being 56 points up

Should I go on?

We deserve the applause

Us NMFC fans

Absolutely no doubt about that. It’s just harder to quantify the “fat sticking” of fans with raw data as everyone’s story is different.

You make a good footy point. Premierships are won in the 'backroom' and require 'buy-in' from all.

I'm sure North will use LDU signing on to galvanise its membership and sponsorship going forward. Our 'window' is just opening and the young boys who've chosen to 'stick fat', and those in and around the Club deserve credit for getting us where we are right now.

It's been tough to get the train rollin', but we've left the station - the destination is still a long way off, but we pick up momentum at every station.🙏💙

Getting paid a shitload of money to not have to perform also makes players stick around, you just hope the reason is they can see where we are heading rather than they are comfortable with mediocrity. I think pre-Clarkson there was a bit of the wrong type of loyalty, now with all these talented kids i think they can see the potential.

Yes every member who has attended every game week in and week out deserves applause for the last 5 years after what we have been put thru that’s sticking FAT as a member and supporter.
Not like some who won’t attend but will jump on board once the wins start coming .
Now what we need is not to attract 28k to a home game but 38k and 48k to home games with it been a %90 North crowd as if the ground was rocking on Sunday imagine if we had more there of our own supporters .
But that be too much to ask as we are in BS excuse season and I know it just won’t happen.
I just want to attend a home game and come out of it whether we win or lose and be walking out with my own supporters in large numbers not with oppositions supporters out numbering us hopefully other NMFC supporters feel the same.

Ben McKay didn't stick fat :drunk: Love what he did for our club by removing himself from it.

As another poster mentioned there definitely would be buy in from players to coaching staff. Its all starting to make sense.

I go to every game I can, but I will bring all of my friends if you LEARN HOW TO USE A COMMA

The interviews since the game with X and Larkey, they seem genuine in saying that they believed before and nothing on that front has changed. It’s a credit to them and everyone around them at the club how they’ve maintained faith and enthusiasm regardless of the results.
