For mine there are 2 players I would like to see a big 2012 from:
Kane Cornes and Jonas.

Paul and Daniel Stewart are the 2 after that.

Everyone.

But especially would love Jacobs to show why we drafted him in the first round.
IMO Jacobs will do that but not in 2012, he needs one more year.
Not as a HBF but he will end up being the midfielder we are missing atm, an extractor with skills.

Salopek, Chaplin, Westhoff.

Those three are probably the difference between us having a good year and bad.

Salopek, when in form and played in the right position is a game changing weapon. I remember in 2008 when he had an enormous work-rate he was almost our best midfielder. Don't know why some people are starting to overlook Salopek, he is miles better than the likes of Banner, Broadbent and Thomas etc. at full flight, and he has been in the system. Instead of single minded develop youth, we should demand a massive season from a seasoned campaigner, why by and means should be carrying the team by now.

A midfield of:
C: Danyle Pearce, Travis Boak, Hamish Hartlett
Foll: Matt Lobbe, Brad Ebert, Steven Salopek
would surely be a menace to most lower/mid tier teams.

As for Chaplin, we need to make greater use of his versatility. I remember a few years back we were pressured by the lions and we pushed Chaplin forward to take marks to great effect. Since Chaplin isn't really a critical component of the defensive spine these days, we can afford to release and push him forward in games, and have Paul Stewart cover for him as a third tall. This way, it's possible to create a little mismatch against shorter back lines, as well as add some additional protection to Butcher. Of course, he needs to relearn marking, aggression and pack crashing.

As for Westhoff, I think at his best he is unplayable. But he is too inconsistent, and I hope Tyson Edwards do some of his fitness and conditioning homework with him and end the fluctuation of form.

Obviously everyone. But it's these sort of mid-aged players (throw in Ebert, Carlile, Pearce) who will be the difference between us having a good season and a promising one.

Beyond that, I would love to see Butcher, Trengove and Hartlett rise up the rankings of the wider public's best young player lists.

Would love to see hammer and broady tear it up with both butch and d stew kicking 80 between them. And moore showing why he was a 1st rounder

Oh and I would like #6 to win the Rising Star, because **** GWS.

this looks nice and also neat thinking with salopek and chaplin. really could surprise the competition if they have great years. i think we can rely on pearce, cassisi, boak, salopek and brad ebert in the midfield for most of our games next season so we could even see it as a strength next year. then hamish hartlett could come in and take it by the scruff of the neck, there's david rodan who enjoys winning matches in 5 minutes, and of course ben jacobs who we'd love to find his feet and make an impact. there is also the big body of andrew moore and the reliable matt thomas, and there are still youngsters we can put in there. maybe there will be some unexpected surprises like the apparent interest in having paul stewart around the middle and pinches of brett ebert. i am getting rather excited now.

i personally want ben jacobs and hamish hartlett to really make an impact and we all want travis boak to excel. i hope nick salter proves he deserves a spot on our list no matter where we play him. dan stewart too, he didn't just show some good signs but some fantastic marks and goals but maybe not as much of the 'AFL stuff' we are demanding from forwards.

genuine competition for spots is what we will have!

Butcher - so many key forwards struggle with the extra defensive attention in their second year and we saw an example of this against Melbourne at Adelaide oval

This kid is the future and has the ability to create excitement and put bums on seats and bring people to the games causing more interstate interest too - his success not only helps the team but it helps the club.

I would love to see at least 44 goals from him this year

Too many to choose..... Rather than individual players I'm really interested in the team as a collective group and what the coaches can show us in game day

There are a huge number I want to do well next year, but Daniel Stewart is the guy I desperately want to see do well. He looks like he has put a bit of size on, and I'm really hoping he can have a more prolonged impact on games. His game against the bulldogs shows his problems more than any I've seen him play. 12 touches and a goal in the first quarter as a ruckman, followed by 2 touches for the rest of the game!

If he can start to play big games it will go a long way to helping us kick goals up forward, and may even improve our ruck stocks.

I would like to see all Australian seasons from:

Chaplin
Carlile
Trengove
Hartlett
Boak
Gray
Butcher

Geez, that would put us top 4 if all those guys made AA.

Would like to see Chaplin get some mongrel back in his game, will make a world of difference to our defence.
