The pacing of the game was excellent. They had a story to tell and did, all killer no filler. Another example that not every game needs to be a 100 hour open world.

Only really gripe was the “combat” but there wasn’t a lot of it.

I beat it too really enjoyed it bit short but that's ok it's a game you can just enjoy and chill.

It's one of the contenders for game of the year imo

My guess is when it comes to the big websites It’ll make a lot of top 10’s (maybe even 5’s) but I don’t think anything has had as much impact as Elden Ring.

Yeah Elden Ring was on every gamers lips.

I think Starfield will have the same kind of impact as Elden Ring

This was a popular prediction around the time of Microsoft acquiring Activision but it looks like Sony do in fact have some interest in Square Enix Tokyo but not necessarily the rest.

There are many contributing and really valid reasons for this outside of Sony's control (and let's not forget that there might have been a little something during the last couple years that had more people at home with little else to do), but IMO it's something I've felt for a while now. Sony seem to want that big blockbuster gaming experience. That's fine, their platform has had some of the most polished and well received titles over the recent generation. However there are fewer releases. I like to game and I like to play lots of different games. I like new experiences and trying different things. I'm also not really into many of the kinds of games Sony are sinking millions into. I've spent most of the time on my PS5 just playing old multiplats I've seen on sale. Of course it will come down to the kinds of games and experiences you're into but I'm simply finding more things to do elsewhere.

Got my PS5 today and Ghost of Tsushima to play! Absolutely spewing I only have a few hours to get stuck in before I have to head out. A busy weekend ahead too is going to stop me from putting in many hours, stupid life getting in the way of a new console!
the DLC in the PS5 version was fun. and i think works best as played whenever it gets unlocked in the story, i think early in act 2.

Think the homogeneity of the games I'm interested in is also a problem. Bethesda have been releasing, essentially, the same game since Oblivion with marginally better gameplay, and while From Software offers a unique series of experiences it's a bit of a challenging palate to digest at every moment of every day. For whatever reason, I can't get into the Witcher 3 (call it 'I don't want to play as Geralt' syndrome if you like) and the closest offering to what I do want to play is Cyberpunk 2077.

If I want a gameplay and story rich experience, I have to pick either a) a From game, which forces me to either dig to make sense of the story or watch hours of Youtube, which can be fun but is also really ****ing draining, b) play Cyberpunk/a Bethesda title, which are exploration sims as much as they're RPG's (I'd argue Bethesda games aren't even RPG's anymore; exploration sims with inbuilt experiences for you to encounter) c) play Ubisoft open worlds, which doesn't appeal at all.

I can't go back to top down RPG's; tried Disco Elysium, couldn't do it.

The industry is on one hand narrowing down within genres to greater aim for segments of the market with more precision, while the games going for broadness are entirely too shallow.

I'd kill for an experience like Mass Effect 1 to just come out of the woodwork; a mixed RPG/action game, with an in depth story that is more Science Fiction than what the series went on to become.

A MGS Remake is one of those things where you’re 99% certain, that it won’t happen, whenever you read about it.

While I used to be understanding of remakes and have since flipped in that I'm over them, a full MGS remake is something I'd 100% get behind. Seems like one of those things that if it were a chance we'd have known by now.

That Persona 6 mention gives me a chub though. I'm no weeb but I absolutely love those games and need a new Persona experience.

Probably Armor Core for Fromsoft?

Think it'd be funny if they just give Kojima all the past Konami titles to work with

P6 could be announced very soon
