Yeah I haven't bought a disc in 2 years and I just gave away 100+ discs from various generations recently. I really don't want to start filling up my house with them again. Regarding pricing, are you able to buy from different regions on PS5? I remember buying a lot of games from the US store on the PS4.

If you're savvy you should still be able to have accounts in different regions to purchase from different stores. I don't for the sake of a few dollars here and there.

I agree with physical anything taking up space so much. I had hundreds of blurays and DVDs that I had collected over the years, not to mention all the games. I'd have to keep buying shelving to keep them in which seemed like a waste of space when I'd only watch them once. Like a game I'd put away after finishing and never playing again (OK, yes you can trade them in though). I went full digital on everything some time ago. Worst case for movies that aren't on one of the subscription services I have I can just rent it and stream for like $5-10 dollars or whatever it is. We downsized when buying our current house late last year so I had to get rid of a lot of stuff. I still had boxes and boxes of bluray movies that simply wouldn't fit on shelving or anything in the new house. So I donated them all, including a couple dozen PS4 games, to my local Savers. I'm sure some thrift shoppers would be pretty happy. Going full digital for my gaming, movies and music feels like I'm travelling a lot lighter. I understand all the arguments for holding onto physical stuff but like or not digital is the future and I'm just onboard now.

Physical media is still worthwhile for movies and TV, useless for games though.

4K streaming is garbage compared to 4K disc unfortunately. Almost always horribly compressed.

For me personally, I’m full digital between my PS3 (on the console), PS4 (external HDD) and PS5 games (external HDD), however, I bought a physical PS5 console. The reason why is because I have a 4K TV and if there is a 4K Blu-ray version of a movie or TV show I will buy that version. The only 4K movie I have at the moment is the latest James Bond and funnily enough the Blu-ray version actually looks nicer LOL.

I only paid $150 for my PS5 as the other $600 was accumulated over the years from JBHIFI gift cards for Birthday’s and Christmases. So the extra cost between digital and physical was negligible.

The main reason why I got the physical ps5 was for the occasional physical disc game and a 4k movie player.... I've purchased many 4k titles since owning the ps5.... still haven't watched one on it (I rip the movies and watch them on hdds elsewhere. I have a stand alone Panasonic 4K player that has rarely been used for the same reason).

I have a physical but I do buy games I’m going to play long term digitally.

I like to trade games in and use the eb games 7 day return policy, saved me a lot of money over the journey.

So Dualsense Edge controller has a pretty cool hard case and is compatible with existing PS5 controller charging dock. It feels a bit more solid and textured grip is nice but overall probably not quite as premium feeling as the Xbox Elite controller. Being able to replace the stick module is pretty cool if you suffer stick drift in the future and don't want to replace the entire controller.

The function buttons seem like a great way to adjust headset mix and volume on the fly but it keeps telling me I can't adjust those controls now. I'm assuming that's because I'm using the H9 already leveraging those controls on the headset. I like the idea of holding a function button and selecting a profile from the screen more than an LED indicator and guessing which profile it is like on the Xbox Elite controller.

Mine has only one bar of charge out of the box so after I give it a full charge I'll be able to say how long battery lasts and will also test back paddles (by default not attached).

Looks like my controller is dying. Starting to only last an hour before the notification to recharge. Pretty disappointing given it's only like 2 years old.

I use a charging dock (Sony one), wondering if that's contributed to it dying so quick?

They stop accepting charge when left on a charge and full/near full charge so it shouldn't be that. I just think the battery life is kind of poo. I have 3 Dualsense controllers that I constantly rotate on the Sony charging dock and I feel like the notification to recharge them comes much sooner than it used to. Though I noticed that I've still got like 1-2 hours from that notification to it actually conking out.

I had a big session on Saturday from before lunch to late Arvo/early evening and even the fancy new Dualsense Edge controller didn't last. I didn't run it to complete empty but the notification came up after about 6-8 hours. Disappointing compared to the Xbox Elite controller that feels like it never runs out.

How may of you have the PS5 digital? Any regerts?
None for the way I use it and play.

For us it's a relatively expensive Netflix machine with some gaming when I have time (after the two year old goes to bed but before I fall asleep... if we're not watching Netflix).

I'm not one to have games on display etc, and if there's a game I want I am generally happy enough until it's on sale in the PS Store.

We also don't have a dvd/blueray collection so no need.

I also don't have 50+ games or anything. Stick to my 10 or so and there's no problems with storage either.

Got an email saying the Playstation Plus collection is closing.

What is that? I can't figure out which games are in it.

It’s a collection of 20 PS4 games that have been free since the PS5 launched and I don’t think it recieves new additions like the monthly free games. So nothing really special.

If you have a PS Plus service, you have that collection too.

My issue with this is, when I was a very young human I begged my mother to approach the local blockbuster video hire to see if we could purchase a N64 game on limited release. That game was Aiden Chronicles: the First Mage, and it was widely considered to be ****ing awful. Ugly, clunky, buggy, gave the player sore thumbs due to having to hold the thumbstick forward for hours on end. In the end, no-one else had ever rented it and Mum was able to get it for $35.

To me, I could see the bugs but it fascinated me. A numbers driven western narrative RPG with a completely different magic system than most, and an interesting cast of characters and interactions. The problem is, it was akin to Baldur's Gate but on a console from a first person position; in a lot of ways, it was a predecessor to Dragon Age: Origins, without the memory, an open map, terrible textures and models due to being around 5-10 years more ambitious than the hardware was capable of doing.

We sold our N64 and Gamecube when we got into Xbox 360 games. Fast forward to today...

You never know what might be valuable in a year or 10. Be careful what you sell/trade away/throw out.

That's all true, but imagine hanging onto everything because it might be worth money one day. I've had so many things like mint condition Matchbox cars still in their box, Megadrive and PS1 games and even band shirts I've owned go for tidy sums on eBay. The things I hold onto are my guitars (I'm left handed so they'll never lose value) and some historical items I collect. I simply have no room left to hoard electronic media. When I moved recently I got rid of it all except for my Transformers (1986 movie) and X Files boxset blurays.

Anyone got issues with mushy buttons on the dual sense? Seems kids using them without clean hands is the culprit - bits of grime etc get inside the buttons. But shouldnt be so easy to get jammed / mushy - expect better when coughing up $110 for a controller. Note - I have a PS3 still used by kids and those controllers seem less susceptible to it.

I have been using cotton buds / isopryl alcohol to clean and free up the buttons. That works well.

I parted ways with a few of my excess Guitar Hero and Rock Band guitars, made some extra money (almost $100 per guitar in some instances) and cleaned up some clutter winner winner chicken dinner.

And I swear some of my dual sense charge cycles don't last very long. Been told it can vary depending on game played and the usual vibration, volume of the control speaker. But it still has me scratching my head. Sometimes it feels like I only get 7-9 hours, other times 12-14 hours.

Anyone else's ps5 randomly go into rest mode?

Happened twice last night. I went into safe mode and cleared the cache. Don't really want to rebuild data base if I don't have to..

Was this while you were playing or after a period of inactivity. The second one might be because you have “power saving” timer set up to automatically go into rest mode (20 minutes, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 hours are the options).

To turn off PS5 Rest Mode, users should:

  1. Go to the PS5 Settings menu.
  2. Select “System.”
  3. Scroll down to “Power Saving.”
  4. Choose “Set Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode.”
  5. Select either or both options and choose the “Don’t Put in Rest Mode” option.
  6. The PS5 will no longer automatically put itself into Rest Mode.
If the bold is already enabled on your PS5 or this all happened when you were playing, I am not sure what it could be mate. :(

This happened to me when I first got the PS5.

I turned off rest mode complety not sure if that fixed it but haven't had any issues since. I have an external HDD for my PS4 games and every time I booted from rest mode it would corupt the HDD where i need to reinstall the games

I don't trust the PS5's rest mode
