Polak hit by tram

Just heard on Southern Cross News that Graham Polak was hit by a tram overnight and is in a serious condition with head injuries. Have searched the net everywhere for a confirmation story, nothing yet. Hopefully his injuries are not too serious.

I heard the report first on 3AW's news at 5.30am, when it was said he was rushed to hospital with 'critical injuries', then inexplicably neither the 6.00am or 6.30 am news mentioned it at all. At 7.00am it was reported again that Polak had been hit by a tram, but no mention of how injured he was, although obviously he's been hospitalised. More information needs to be provided, it is far too early to come to any conclusion as to how bad his injuries may be. But one thing for sure, i am astonished that an AFL footballer can be injured in such a way and so little news be given about it. Poor form by 3AW, to say what they did at 5.30 am and then not mention it for two further bulletins.

I do wish him all the best in recovering, probably just a momentary lapse in concentration, accidents can happen to anyone. Maybe it was after the Richmond function last night, there was no information as to what time the accident happened.

ta.

either they have made a mistake, thats why it been pulled. or, as a nurse I dont want to think about the 2nd as critical injuries are not used as a term often.

or maybe the AFL or club has pulled it. I hope thats or number one happened.

That was my first thought. Hopefully whoever reported it got a little carried away and after realising this 3AW pulled it.

I have a question for anyone who watched the game yesterday. I was working so didn't listen to it but just as i jumped in my car to go get lunch the boy's on MMM were saying that Polak was struggling to make it off the ground after a heavy knock. Was this knock head related and did he go back on the ground? Could this have had anyhting to do with the incident?

No, had his ribs crunched but came back on.

Shocking news - still early says but you just hope he is alright. Anyone getting hit by a tram is a serious accident

Sky news just reported that he was taken to the Alfred Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. I believe that this came from a police statement.
