“We had a real dip at trying to get Jared Polec. It wasn’t like we sat on our hands. We created a second-round pick to discuss that option with Brisbane but by the time we’d secured that pick Jared had made his decision on where he wanted to go,” Noble said

Does anyone still want to argue that if we had a second round draft pick in the first place, we were a good chance of getting Polec?
Is Noble on 5AA or Triple M later on today to give us a little more in depth answers than those? I would like to know exactly why Polec chose Port before we had the chance to secure pick 23, and why we gave up on Edwards (given we targeted him a long way out) because of Aylett coming into it at the last second.

Well, according to some of you on here, you dodged a bullet with Polec so rather than seeking answers, you should be praising Triggy

I don't think anyone said we have dodged a bullet. He may well come on, he may not. At this stage of his career he hasn't done anything, but the talent is there so its just a matter of whether he can get the best out of his potential.

I dunno, some are already drawing comparisons to Danny 'Disaster' Meyer.
Not only because I support Port, but I actually think he's at the right club to develop his talent. He's in his home state, in the club he suported as a kid under good coaching/fitness guidance. He won't be getting free passes under Hinkley/Burgess. So unless his whole private life is a complete shambles, I think he will do just fine.

He definetly should be on an AFL list, the whole discussion is at what price, it appears considering all 5 of Brisbanes drafts you paid overs.

Possibly we did but that was the situation we were in which was a bidding war. And you would've done the same thing if the situation was reversed.

He would have every opportunity to develop at Adelaide too. We have developed very well considering we have only a couple of top 10 draftees on our list.

Knowing Danny Meyer i get a bit defensive over people throwing shit at him.
His injury was much worse then he ever let on. Richmond and terry wallace made him push through it and not take the seriousness of it to serious.
Tried reviving his career else where, happened to be port, accepted a rookie role as the club and he knew there was only a slight SLIGHT chance he would come good. As it turned out he didnt and even to this day has trouble with soreness etc. feel sorry for the guy!

It's only because you are a Port supporter. Just remember it is one year, we were in a better position than you this time last year coming off a 3rd placing and look how our season panned out. And don't give me that crap that Hinkley and Burgess will never let that happen, as we thought the same about Sando and co

I'm not saying he wouldn't. I think both clubs are on the same stage of development at the moment. My guess is, him being a Port supporter growing up is what tipped the scales.

Dunno if we would have, would have thought Adelaide had the opportunity to move on Henderson, Lyons and Wright to maybe make it happen. But obviously thought a player that has played just 16 games in three years, has a questionable attitude and seems injury prone wasnt worth it. However saying that he definetly has talent and would be worth the risk as a second round draft pick in their opinion. If this is how it played out I am very happy they didnt overpay and kept to where they wanted to be regardless of other influences. Maybe mistakes they have made in the past have taught them this.
