USA Policy positions of Donald Trump; let's see how many he achieves

Tossing in a reference to 1930s Germany does not fortify a poor argument.

If he did want to become a dictator, he had no better opportunity than during COVID. He could have declared all sorts of extraordinary powers and taken control, stopped the election, got the military in etc etc.

For a guy who apparently wants to be a dictator...that was a big opportunity to let slip

He thought he’d get reelected. He didn’t. He started to face the barest minimum of consequences for the shit he’s done. He’s declared he’ll be much, much more careful to implement loyalists in to key posts now and pursue his enemies.

I don’t think Trump is ideological about it, he’s just a selfish rich dude that doesn’t want any consequences and is happy to burn down democracy if it gets him out of trouble. The people following him however, are ideologically driven and want to take control of, and remake, an American democratic system that is much less democratic.

Yes. A dictator that came unstuck...by a democratic election.

Can you take me through how he might burn down democracy?

Hitler didn’t become a dictator successfully first time around. Look how that ended up.

He might start with stacking the Supreme Court with friendly judges.

Then he might continue by stacking high profile government positions with loyalists instead of qualified people.

I hope he doesn’t become a dictator. I hope the current GOP-MAGA coalition doesn’t succeed at a large portion of the things they’ve said, hinted or being rumoured to want to do. I hope we look back in 10 years time thinking ‘gee, we really didn’t have to concern ourselves’.

But right now you’ve got steps 1 and 2 unfolding in the ‘steps you’d take if you want to make a democratic country less democratic’ along with a whole lotta people content to pretend Trump isn’t a lifelong criminal.

Several references?
Ok that's a start.
Walk me through to the part where elections are cancelled forever.
No, how about you show us where Trump, the greatest BS artist of all time, has ever once gone out of his way to pledge his allegiance to democracy. He scarcely mentions the word.

Seriously, given his track record, what gives you any confidence at all Trump wouldn't grab any opportunity he can to put himself in for life?

Specially with the SCOTUS he's got for himself now. You really think they're an unbiased bunch? LOL here's a bridge going cheap.

Unsteady and speech issues. He is just really old- too old to be POTUS just like Biden was.
I wouldn't be at all suprised if he does a toes up during this term. Won't the tinfoil hat brigade have a field day then. The faithful will be seeing him in every slice of burnt toast.

All I'm saying is why would anyone trust Trump?

His whole life has been dedicated to proving he's not to be trusted.

Then all of a sudden, he's the most powerful person in the world, and no-one need to be worried about whether Donald Trump will do the right thing?

FMD you are just trolling aren’t you. Keep that little ol’ head of yours in the sand. Can’t be bothered responding to such tripe.

A MILITARY LOYAL TO TRUMP

In 2020, the armed forces were a bulwark against Donald Trump’s antidemocratic designs. Changing that would be a high priority in a second term.

The last time around, Trump’s efforts to pack the Defense Department with cranks and flunkies came too late to bring the military under his full political control

Trump now nurses deep grudges against these officers and civilians, who slow-rolled and smothered his various illegal and autocratic impulses, including his enraged demand to kill the Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad in 2017, and his desire to deploy America’s military against its own citizens during the Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020.

In a second term, Trump would combine his instincts for revenge and self-protection. He would seek not only to get even with an officer corps that he thinks betrayed him, but also to break the military as one of the few institutions able to constrain his attempts to act against the Constitution and the rule of law.

This says it all..

Low intelligence Trumpie nuffie thinks she's clever using a dictionary definition but not understanding the difference between a noun and a verb.

Just wants to be free to hate on those different from her (ironically in this example, as her IQ is seemingly close to that which she seeks to disparage).

Funny how the "Biden too old/dementia" narrative was magically dropped when he decided to be a one term race, real missed opportunity for the Dems to start circulating all the comments Fox/Newsmax etc were saying about too old, mentally in decline but have Donalds photo on the screen.

Weird they have a minimum age for President but not a maximum. You shouldn't be able to run for President if you are over 60.

They tried but failed, thing is Donnie says unhinged shit confidently and always has so no one can really tell the difference if he is in mental decline or not.
