If we continue to go down the line of Co captains then l'll be all for having LDU and Sheezel with Larkey as Vc and xerri as Deputy VC..

If LDU says No thanks then Larkey replaces him and Xerri becomes Vc.
Parker needs to prove himself within the club before l would look at giving him a Captains role. Maybe have him as a VC with Xerri..

Parker and Daniel should be in the leadership group though.

****en Co-Captains! It stinks of not knowing which hand to wipe your arse with. Do we have 2 head coaches? 2 CEOs? 2 Presidents? Enough of this nonsense. One Captain! Grow a dick Clarko and pick 1 Captain. Just like Dangles did in 93 when he made Carey Captain and the rest is history. :stern look

He's also the only bloke that's captained a successful side on our list. Has been a part of an elite program and will immediately be in our best 10-15 players, JY has done none of this. I'm not sure Jy is a walk up starter at too many other teams.

Are you claiming Jy has never been in the top 10 to 15 players on our list? That would be complete bovine excrement.

I feel like Jy cops an unfair amount of disrespect in this joint. He is one of only 18 players in the history of our club to win the Syd more than once. He sets the standard at the club for physical preparation. He stepped up to take on the captaincy at a challenging time when all of our better experienced players either had or were about to depart and the rest were culled, when the club was amid a disastrous coaching merry-go-round, and when arguably his most talented teammate was self-imploding and destroying his career. It seems he is clearly the more senior of the two co-captains and takes on the majority of the media and PR burden.

At his best Jy is a very, very good AFL footballer without being genuinely elite. For various reasons he has struggled to produce his absolute best consistently over the past two seasons. With a better run at things in 25 I think he can have an outstanding season rolling between that high HFF role and being part of a midfield rotation that includes LDU, Sheezel, Warlord, Kerch, FOS, and Parker.

I'm sure that if Jy was out of contract there would be plenty of teams lining up for his services.

His best is good, he was nowhere near it in 24. He's being played out of position because we have better options in the middle and he struggled at half forward. His kicking is amongst the worst in the league and that's the main reason I don't think he'd be a starter at too many other clubs. Most guy's that can't kick develop an elite handball game, Jy's handballing is just as bad as his kicking.

Unless they're veterans I'd prefer players hitting a contract year aren't in the running for skipper.

That'd rule LDU out under current circumstances.

It was a joke having McKay in there when his leadership consisted of being wjned and dined by other clubs.

Luke Parker Captain.
Sheezel Vice

Luke Parker retires, Sheezel becomes captain & Wardlaw Vice.

Luke Parker will set a new standard at the club & automatically commands respect.
Makes a whole lot of sense.

Probably why we are delaying naming the captain. Let Parker establish himself over summer and the preseason games.

Agree though I’d replace wardlaw with xerri but u may be right at year end
We need new voices who walk tall and say follow me

Absolutely. The doco I saw was brutal - orphaned adolescent male elephants killing other animals, traumatizing other elephants etc with no leadership in place.

They trialled dropping in some bulls and all the dickheads pulled back into line.
This doesn’t directly contradict what you are saying, but aren’t elephant families matriarchal?

That does sound accurate, with the bulls being loners.

Maybe African vs Indian?

Am 100% on seeing the doco tho, the elephants were killing rhinos and doing things inconsistent with normal behaviour prior to dropping in the elders.

I’ve been overseas for a few weeks and out of the loop - apart from watching our Women win the flag. Has LMac given up the captaincy or has he been sacked as captain?

No official movement on leadership group yet but consensus (among fans) he simply cannot be captain anymore.

Parker couldn’t get a game last year, should not be captain, same as Daniel, getting carried away that they are gun recruits when infact may struggle

And finished an arguable BOG for his side in a grand final.
There is an absolute underplaying of the hole we are in.

IMHO in the 23 trade/draft period Clarko backed in the leaders we had.

In the 24 trade/draft period we imported 3 leaders because the leaders we had were given a season and found wanting.

The tipping point was the West Coast unlosable game which we lost with every leader failing to have any composure whatsoever.

If there is any certainties in what we look like in 2025 it’s that our leadership group will change.

Objectively looking at all our players Parker is clearly the most credentialed to be captain. Who knows if we pull that trigger though.

Did the Lions make Hodge captain when he was clearly the best credentialed leader at the club (3x premiership captain)? No, they brought him in for leadership, standards and experience.

Our 3 experienced imports are being brought in for the same purpose - to teach our young list how to win. None of them need formal titles to serve that purpose

was gonna pretty much say the same thing.
Daniels might end up in the leadership group, but Parker and Daniels are in their golden years and really shouldn't be here to do anything but help our existing leaders be better.
I know some want Jy and LMac out, and I agree 1 should go - but like anything in life, you're not going to be great immediately and either can improve in this space next year. We all know that whoever is captain for 25 (possibly 26) is just keeping the seat warm for Prince Harry.
If we win more games, leadership will automatically look to be in a better place and i think that happens regardless of who is captain next year.
