The time is now to move on a senior assistant coach. I'm still fine with the game style (not the bs 5m retreat stuff though) and Bev is proven to motivate players.

But he needs a respected voice in his ear to offer insights. Particularly someone familiar with the importance of structure and can offer a different style. If Adam Simpson finds himself available I'd be on the phone to him and offer him the senior assistant position. He understands and respects the importance of ruck stocks and KPP structure and is a proven coach with success. Bev seems friendly with him so he might be a voice he actually listens to.

If Bev is worried about the decreasing soft cap for coaching, wheres all the current money going? Much can't be spent on the current assistants we have.
Cameron the other one, has worked under Rocket, Clarko & Sheedy.

We need to get one of these two.

Also a real disappointing showing for guys like Dunkley who are chasing the big bucks but got his pants pulled down by Selwood and his cohort of spuds in the midfield.

We are just not a smart football team, Caleb Daniel not knocking the call through for a behind lead to a goal, Adam Treloar not taking the ball over and trying some fancy flick lead to a goal.

Dunkley had 8 centre bounces, less than any other mid. In a game where we couldn't put on any pressure we refused to put him in the middle. It's a very typical Bevo idea, he wants offense 100% of the time.

When he’s in career best form in his current role. More madness, legitimately no stability in the way we go about things

Leon Cameron come on home ...

How can other teams flood our forward line yet still have targets down the other end, still find space through the forward half of the ground. We have no one in defence and let the ball get out the back yet never have anyone ahead of the ball to kick it to when we need it either.

What’s actually breaking down here, I can’t watch closely enough at the game to pick up on it as Im just invested too emotionally in the contest haha. Is it possibly to do with the fact we have about 20 ball hunting midfielders out there that just chase stats? Chase the ball up and down the ground all day as that’s what they know best, and everyone refuses to hold position etc.

I dunno I’m genuinely curious if anyone has any thoughts on this

Went to the game last night, drove over 4 hour round trip getting home close to 1am - to watch that sh1t.

My hatred of that opposition and everyone associated with them grows exponentially each time we play them.

Not much I can add that hasn't been covered, other than to say I'm less of a fan of the coach than I've ever been.

A couple of other quick points. And I'll preface them by saying the umpiring had no bearing on the outcome, just highlighting how sh1tful it is, in general.

Approx 19 minute mark 3rd quarter. Bailey Dale has the ball on our right HBF, Selwood on the mark. Selwood steps on the mark, does it constantly btw, Dale DOES NOT MOVE. Dale has has had the ball for a few seconds - umpire calls play on. Late in the game, Stanley has the ball after a mark, steps of his line, then back again. Seconds pass. Stanley still deciding where to kick - only then does the umpire call play on.

Guthrie - every time his opponent took a mark, he takes 2-3 steps over the mark, one against Williams where the umpire was 15m away and failed to tell him to step back. That one pushed Williams from about 55 out and possible scoring range, to close to 60 out.

I'm sure Cats fans can find similar instances the other way.

Then there's the Richards one that should have been downfield and a shot on goal, but was called back.

The AFL and Brad Scott are setting up a circumstance where umpires will be assaulted by fan/s. Personally if that happens, I'll have no sympathy for anyone involved.

And the goal umpire who called for a review of a ball that had no player within 20m when it went through - you've got one job, get back to under age footy, you Muppet.

Polly Farmer was so right. Umpires are an indictment on the game, not good enough to play the game, yet somehow even more incompetent adjudicating it.

I get we need umpires coming through from juniors, but the umpiring directives and application at AFL level are fully deserving of all the opprobrium directed at them.

Anyway, I'll take Leon's hatted of North and raise it x1000. I will never feel compassion for any Geelong player who suffers serious injury or other misfortune in their life. GAGF you inbred goat-f***ers.

Other than that, I think I've moved on from last night's game.

Cheerio
Worse still, they own us. If last night wasn't our best chance in living memory to beat them, it's fair to say we never will.

I hate this so much. It's a soft cap and we should be in a premiership window. Go over it for one season and give our guys the best chance to succeed. We're not in excessive debt anymore

its a cap rule not a fund issue and in very brief

Hilarious that in all likelyhood we will have played 4 different players across consecutive rounds in the same role (forward/ruck).

Cordy - Suns
Sweet - Eagles
Khamis - Cats
Schache? - GWS

How the hell are English and Naughton able to form any sort of chemistry with a ruck/forward partner. Just madness. Wouldn't be a shock if we throw Marra into the role for a game then Bruce into the role upon his return.

Fk me its official Scag City is the new MD :)

Sorry my bad I forgot the most important data regarding coaching staff payment

Stop pulling numbers out of your arse you moron.

Sorry my bad I forgot to add the below data

Matt Spangher two potato cakes mim chips it is actually Matt Spangher two potato cakes mim chips and two steamed dim sims

and you really think some big footy poster would have the actual data and real wages of two AFL clubs coaching staff fk me
:)

If Tim English can tell the club he wants to be number 1 ruck whatever that means THEN

I ask the leadership group yes Bont and co to approach the coach and tell him having a Buku type ruck as backup is not on.

I ask how much training has Buku done as a ruck with the midfielders ?

Hiding to nothing we were at a crucial point in game .

Embarrassing and negligent

How many dams times were our mids streaming forward and lace out a Cats defender it was simply deplorable. Or allowed them to easily halve the contest at worst

Can I add dumb switches to that list? It's like our backs and mids are programmed to always think of switching first. If the switch isn't on, or risky, don't friggen do it, go long down the line, particularly if you're deep inside defensive 50.

I can't help but think of someone like Scott Wynd or Gary Dempsey who perfected rucking for us over decades in different eras seeing our current mish mash, who gives a s*** attitude towards rucking by our coach and going 'What the actual f***?'

No one player is bigger than the club
If he continues to demand - show him the door

Love this post.

I was at the game and also felt the umpiring was deplorable. Everything seemed to be going their way. The unpaid downfield free kick to Richards was the worst of the night. If you’re not going to pay the downfield then why not at least allow the advantage. I can’t bring myself to re-watch it but I’m sure we should have had a mark or a free for an arm chop on whoever the ball went to.

I consider myself able to be pretty objective when it comes to these things but last night had me convinced they were out to get us.

Forced to drown my sorrows at the game and continue at home, the umpires, coaching team and players have conspired to give me a monstrous hangover today. Everyone’s to blame but me.

My emotional investment in the team fluctuates from week to week, probably nothing unusual in club sport. But how vested I am in the coach is certainly trending down week by week. As others on this page and earlier have noted, our game plan is up sh1t Creek when for large parts of the game we can be outnumbered in contests AT BOTH ENDS, our F50 entries are abysmal and predominantly aimed wide of the corridor, and we have a 190cm tall with limited experience, already unable to run out even 3/4 of a game, and we ask him to be the backup ruck agai st two experienced rucks as well as still pinch hit forward. This isn't a Sweet yes/no argument, it's a Beveridge consistently out-coaches himself argument. He may be a great motivator and innovator, but tactically and in-game coaching it's like we win the games we do in spite of the game plan. We have a couple of match winners and enough other solid citizens to drag us over the line intermittently, then beat up on Roos and Eagles, and fall apart when some heat and a consistent game plan is employed against us.

Do I want Bevo gone? I honestly don't know any more. I know teams who get reamed in GFs struggle the next year, but in 8 years, we've had 2 outstanding finals series, and the rest has ranged from sublime to gut-renching, often from week to week. People say we tried to nab rucks last year but failed. We've had several years since Boyd and Roughead were no longer rucks to fill that void. Team selection and game plan are still inconsistent, and often bizarre when we've had the same coach for EIGHT YEARS. That's not soft cap, that's just ego.

Baz will go cos the AFL is a joke but there is nothing in that, just watched it properly for the first time they both put their heads together then he pulls his back quickly which makes it look like a headbutt and Tuohy flops. Tuohy was a good bloke about it after the game and did the right thing and downplayed it tjouhh
