Great to see the game streamed clearly and with different camera angles which was excellent. Was looking forward to this as an interstater

*Dante Visentini continues to get better definitely bulked up
*Will Francou had some nice plays (glad we can keep him under our watch as he progresses)
*Jed Hagan had some good moments
*Brynn Teakle unfortunately getting over powered by Lycett and beaten by Hayes at the tapwork for the most part. Excellent leaper maybe a KPD role is something to look into while rucking part time
*Georgiadis we have a problem... hopefully he turns up and kicks straight during our trip to the Wild West
*T.Marshall great to see that continuity always reliable

Generally well streamed the mic was clear for the most part, except after the the game
Glad we had a Black team vs White team rather than Teal team vs Silver team #heritagematters

Gee watching 2/3rds of that game wasn’t worth the hell im catching from the missus for watching a football game after a 50hr workweek.

I’m going to be miserable in gameday threads (so about par for gameday threads for port supporters) if I’m simultaneously copping Hinkley goalless quarters and heat from the missus for wasting time watching a meaningless game.

My missus only just seems to have forgiven me for watching the Super Bowl replay.

How the heck do you Dads here watch sport?
My husband cleans the bathroom every weekend and does the ironing. Then he is good to watch his beloved broncos.

Well it sure was an internal trial. A bit scrappy, many mistakes and not really any semblance of fluid football at all. But maybe that's fine? If the game is super fluid it means the defensive systems are rubbish. You want to see pressure on the ball because that is what you expect in a real game. Equally, you want to see the teams occasionally break through the pressure which did happen...sometimes.

A fairly tight game, but I think that's also not a terrible thing. I remember last year the 'Black' side completely dominated and we know how last year ended up. I was happy seeing it being fairly willing and a bit of a contest at times. Hopefully that sets them up to play hard in the preseason games and then the real stuff.

I was content with the game in general. We'll learn much more in a week when we play the Eagles.

A few thoughts about individuals:

Good

Burgoyne - Consistently wins contests. Usually makes good decisions, even if the execution is a little off sometimes. And he looks a bit more mobile now as well which I'm liking. Is getting the ball in space and looks damaging.
Bergman and Duursma - Both just look like professionals now. Rock hard fit, super good in space, hard in the contest and generally good ball use. Excited to see these two own the wing in 2023.
Visentini - The big Vis. Comes at the ball like an absolute freight train with the arms up. Good luck getting to the ball ahead of him. And can kick! Still has some work to do in terms consistency and staying in the contest but lots to like from a talent perspective.
Junior - Has smarts and goal nous. A significant improvement over what we had at half-forward last year.
Fantasia and Pasini- Didn't get injured. Looked quick and mobile.
Williams - Thought he used the ball really well and got to some good positions at half-back. Almost certainly won't get a look in this year, but he now somewhat resembles an AFL footballer.

And quite a few more, including Rozee and SPP.

Bad

JHF - You could very visibly see him losing it, up to the point where he exploded. Didn't have a heap go right, possibly just a bad day, but the good players manage to keep their head in the game and still contribute. Just looks so slow when he doesn't have the ball. Struggles to run, lots of walking and slow jogging. And as a result really struggles to find the ball in space. Had a few small glimmers of brilliance but otherwise a dirty day.

I still see him as a work in progress so happy to let him build, but he the honest truth is that he didn't add much at all today. Certainly did not contribute as much as a Drew for example. The South Adelaide version of Jason Horne would be an improvement to be honest.

Teakle - Got destroyed in the ruck by Lycett and then Hayes...and somehow ended up on the good team? Don't really want to see him rucking next week.
Georgiades - A mental wreck. Goal kicking is disastrous. Zero improvement over the offseason. Yucky.
Farrell - Thought he didn't do much. Some ugly kicking and wasn't great defensively.
Evans - A bit of an invisible performance? Maybe I was just getting him confused with the many anonymous top ups and McEntee but I don't remember seeing him do much.
Wines - Rusty. Hopefully pulls it together over the next two weeks.

Came out of it impressed with Lycett, looked more mobile and set up some clearances for our mids. Maybe that year off will do him some good.

Dixon though looked to be struggling when he ran.
