Are we supposed to be excited by the email, it's like the club pulled in a huge sponsor, or signed up a big name player. I couldn't even read it, I deleted it after I saw the content.

This club is definately not on the same page as it's members. I suppose the next email will be defending their decision by saying it was voted in by the players.

We just have to face facts, this is not a peoples club any more, no matter how the try to spin it, we are just another franchise now, Port customers.

Exactly why he won't be on the board. Can't be controlled unlike that meek appointment in Gav which was completely staged and wholly part of their plan.
Gav wasn’t an appointment. He could have been, but he wasn’t. I know you meant ‘election of’.
Your statement ‘completely staged and wholly part of their plan’ is quite accurate.

Reply to it. It goes to the membership department.

Elected like a Venezuelan president do you mean?

Eh-oh-ah-eh-oh-look, we went through many processes to arrive to this decision a-a-a-and I think it's the right one for the success off the fawbaw club moving forward. I-i-i understand and respect the clubs tradition b-b-ut i'm a big stupid jellyfish and i'm bad at things.

It was funny hearing Rebecca Morse do the whole ambassador thing this morning about getting behind the club before being pushed on it and divulging that she hates it.

There's literally nobody who would beat Tredders if he stood for a member elected position, Gav included.

Did lol at “big stupid jellyfish”.

I never said they were. But Mitchell was without doubt an unofficial leader of that club whilst Hodge was captain. Judd and Cousins the same.
I guess I've missed your point about them and Port.

I went with this:

You are not so important that you can disrespect 150 years of the Port Adelaide Football Club. We have been around longer than you have, and we will still be here when you inevitably leave. To quote a famous idiot, “we know who you are!“

I also made a point to put that it’s not the membership departments fault. They must be on struggle street right now, same as social media.

Sorry to be a tangentric pedant, but:

Melbourne 1858
Geelong 1859
Carlton 1864
North 1869

Yes but they were not all playing in the senior state competition. As an example North Melbourne, which formed in 1869, actually disbanded in 1876 and played as the Hotham Football Club. When the VFL was formed in 1896 Hotham were not invited to join the VFL and played in the VFA until 1925.

Geelong joined the VFA in 1879 and the records show their first captain was James Wilson between 1879-82. I am not sure where they played prior to that. Geelong is older than the PAFC but from the records they were probably playing in a lesser League up until 1879. Port, Carlton and Melbourne had been admitted to the premier leagues in SA and Victoria prior to that.

Carlton has had two Captains on several occasions but they may or may not have been Co Captains. But you are probably correct as Carlton were first formed in 1864 and played in the inaugral year of the VFA in 1877 which is the same year Port Adelaide first played in the SAFA.

I take your point that several other Clubs have been around for a while and I have to retract on the issue.

I have never felt this disconected from the club, even through the dark days.

In 2011-12 there was a real backs to the wall, bayonets fixed, feel to the club. We were in a deep hole, but not entirely of our making. Trundling along to games at that concrete dump and watching us get pumped amongst friends and 15,000 other diehards felt like a badge of honour, especially with smug Sturtelaide and Sturtmantle types digging the boots in around here regarding our crowds and general predicament.

This last 4 years of floundering on and off the field just feels off. Like we’re led by a mob of bozos who are taking great pleasure in f**king the golden goose we fought so hard to raise from an egg that seemed very much touch and go for the better part of 5 years. For the first time Port Adelaide has no idea what it’s doing and it’s 100% self-inflicted.

Never Tear Us Apart indeed. They've ****ing well done it now. Social media is a ****ing war zone and I find myself enjoying the inferno.

Franchise, 1997!

Amazing how quickly supporters cave !

"We, the Players and Management of the Port Adelaide Football Club, accept the heritage which players and administrators have passed down to us” ? Today the club has essentially crapped on its tradition! You can’t now say your a traditional club and pick and chose to say it.

This was nothing more then another ploy to deflect from our on field issues and Hinkley deficiencies.

What’s next? Scrap 1870 on our tops !

We are Port Adelaide we stood for tradition we bleed and screamed and said we not like them

Well congratulations to we become just like them
