Absolutely, in my eyes Neades 2 downsides are actually his goal numbers and his lack of 4 quarter presence. Mate, i am more than happy that the club has aquired LT's services, infact i would be estatic if he contributed to a successful tilt at the flag.

Im not espousing Neade is a player of profound substance nor an utter failure. He is what he is. But im not going to be foolhardy and write off a bunch of under 25's who HAVE in times of need provided this club with strength, courage and tenacity for a bunch of newcomers. Let them prove their mettle in our colours before we slay our own.

Neade is definitely a required player, however I would have to take an in-from Lindsay Thomas ahead of him.

I’d be ecstatic if Taylor walker contributed to a successful tilt at a Port flag. I don’t care how we get it lol

With Thomas though - he’s had a rough few years but with norf he copped a good defender each week in an insipid forward line. I’m genuinelt excited to see what he can do with an oppositions 4th best small defender feeding at the feet of dixon - think he could he handy when needed

With an entry of Lobbe trade - wait until the players value has declined to where you'll now get much less than what you would have if you've pulled the trigger when you should have.

Right now Broadbent is headed for a Lobbe trade. Whether he's best 22 (I don't think so) or not, if he is, we have a ton of HBF'ers and the difference between him and replacements is much less (or he's worse in many eyes like mine) then what we'd have netted in a trade for him. Port are killing it with getting players in and picking up bargain draft picks, but we still are shit at trading out replaceable players at their peak.
Maybe the two are related?

Convincing them to stay only to leave them to rot in the SANFL isn’t looking after them. If we’d let Lobbe go to the Dogs in 2015 he definitely would have had more money in his account and he probably would have been a premiership player.

Not trading Broadbent to a team like Gold Coast or North where he’d be a walk up start won’t cost him a flag, but it’ll cost him some AFL games in his eventual tally and probably some dollars on his next contract.

There's been an under-current message from Ken n Co about controlling the ball, presumably to minimise clangers and to
deny the oppo the ball. Sounds great BUT ....... what I'm hoping NOT to see, is a stop start, chippy chippy chip chip gameplan.
Many posters on here said of our AFLX showing, don't wet the bed, early days, get a grip it's BS footy with no relevance to
how we'll go come Rd1. ok well what I saw in the AFLX was a lot of 'mark go back assess options short pass rinse n repeat'.

Hoping not to see too much of this today. It has it's place just hoping it's not the cornerstone template for 2018.
To our newcomers let it rip today, believe in yourselves.

This is it. Now we (most of us) wish every player we've drafted or traded in, is going to become a multiple AA winner that every other club will curse passing, but it won't happen. And in an 18 team competition different clubs are going to have different list profiles, where for the benefit of all a different club may be a better fit. Players love Port unsurprisingly, but they do first and foremost want to play AFL. Trengove, Impey, Ah Chee, Young, we've helped players move elsewhere for more opportunities. But not when they are still in contract. It shouldn't be that much of a difference to initiate those trades whilst the club still has more leverage.

Work the ball forward slowly is one thing. Repeated backwards movement for the old Primus triple play is another. I'm still scarred from those years, where teams would let you retain possession by leaving a player free one line further back, so we'd retain possession having gone backwards 50-100 metres, only to turn it over when the full pressure was applied near opposition goals.

If our plan does work, we should be sucking opposition players in to try and force a turnover, leaving options free forward (and just for something different, not all out on the wings in Row S - although no Sam Gray today, so maybe less chance of that). If we resort to our 2017 Wings, wings, wings! plan I hope there's a few Port supporters there to yell out 'Stick to the ****ing corridor, or go play with the Magpies!'

I keep reading that Barry’s had a great preseason and one to watch in the JLT.

I don’t know much about him, other than he played for Melbourne. I can’t see how he will fit into the team come round 1. Is he the new Eddy? The player all the fans will want to see get a game, but won’t be picked?

Quick outside link up left footer. Still gets 'in n under' a bit but e've got enough of them. Had an attack of the nerves in the AFLX but
might get a decent go this year.

So where are you picking him? On the bench or half back? And who would you leave out?

The way that I see it, from Port’s elimination final team, Watts, Motlop, Rockcliffe will be certain ‘in’ and Impey ‘out’

You still need to drop two (probably Neade, maybe S. Grey). And what about Hombsch?

Not sure how he will fit. Good challenge for the coaches.
