PORT Adelaide's plan to wear a magpie on its jumper against Richmond in Round 10 has been given the tick by the AFL.

Despite the bluster of president Eddie McGuire, Collingwood's management did not complain about the jumper, which is a one-off designed to celebrate Port's 140th anniversary.

Stick it up your considerable arse, McChins.

I personally don't have a problem with Port using the Magpie for this match, considering the Port Magpies are in such a sad state of affairs.

Can't erase over a century of history and success. A traditional club president like Collingwood should be aware of that. Have to disagree with Ed on this one.

At least now no one can accuse the AFL of being run by Collingwood. :p We don't always get our way.

Ant85, great post mate.

I feel sorry for the other Collingwood supporters out there who kicked up a stink over a microscopic magpie image on our jumper for one round, how will you survive now that it is going ahead!

I look forward to Port wanting to use it again for their 140th and One Month anniversary.

Don't understand what the big deal is. Since when is the 140th anniversary of anything important? Or is it a desperate move by Port to celebrate something now in case the club is not around in the years to come due to its poor financial standing?

Thats bullshit mate. Dont you remember 2005 when your club celebrated 30 year since your first premiership and 80 year of senior competition.

Good stuff, I've got no problem with Port Adelaide paying tribute to their roots in heritage round. Neither did Collingwood by the sounds though, Ed gets a bit too territorial about these things.
In saying that though, I'm glad we have a vocal president who goes to lengths to ensure the tradition and prestige of our club.

Anyway, minor issue, play on.

As I posted on the pr0t board recently,

You can be pretty much guaranteed that when Eddie first got wind of our plans he envisaged something like this:

Rather than what it will approximately be in reality:

Given there was no official complaint lodged in the aftermath and he's been dead silent after his extraordinary outburst, he's probably been notified of just how minor the Magpie emblem is to be used in context and has quietly backed away without making eye-contact.

dyertribe, is that 2nd guernsey going to be the one they wear?

The club has previously put up a couple of logos resembling that one on the website in regards to the 140th celebrations and it has also been stated that a joint logo will be worn on the left breast, therefore I reckon that'll be close to the mark.

Sensible, articulate post.....what are you doing here?

the Magpies got their first win of the season on the weekend but off-field, not much has been said. It's safe to say the $ANFL will probably drive the knife into them at the end of the season though. Make up some bullshit about how they can't support themselves (because of the restrictions put on by the league anyway) and the people who care about Port Adelaide will be far outweighed by the brainwashed pissants that are the South Australian public. If you support the Crows you're against Port surviving because "you just have to hate them" and if you don't support either then you don't really know enough about the subject to comment. But they comment anyway, and they hear the "facts" presented by the pissants, and they all outweigh common sense and come to that conclusion of "kill them then".

I've said this before, Victoria would never EVER let anything like this happen, the clubs hate each others ****ing guts but at the end of the day it would be absurd to suggest they'd actually hate a club so bad that they'd split it in half, mess with their finances, put shocking restrictions on all with the goal of one of the clubs folding.

It's not too late though, we can still tell people what's really going on and hopefully the people that matter hear the real story.
