Port requests for Gold Coast to change home guernsey

Yeah but lets say Norwich FC play here in Aus against some other random team, and no one knows anything about either team...

I think you'd find people would be leaning towards the green n gold pretty quick.
kansas city chiefs played in london a couple years ago and cardinals are scheduled to play there this year (red and white), or the patriots, giants and bills have played there where their colours are red blue and white. this issue wasn't even considered in america, it's treated just like any other game.

in america it's automatic that the road team wears the whites. i'm in favour of all afl teams having a white alternate strip and a third coloured strip in case of clashes but i don't think it needs to be used where no clash exists. suns vs port adelaide is about as good a contrast as you will see between 2 home strips. I don't really know what else to say other than next time invite a team with a shit strip like hawthorn

stopped reading at "if home kits of match-day clubs are similar or likely to cause confusion, the away club must wear a combination of home and away and third, or full away, or full third kit to provide an effective differentiation between the two match-day teams."

Yeah sure thing mate, Soccer is the bestest sport ever and we should slavishly copy what they do, including allowing teams the options to wear "a combination of home and away and third 'kit'".

That's not a ******* stupid suggestion at all. What does that entail? Front half of the guernsey the home 'kit', back half the away 'kit', shorts and socks from the clash strip?

WTF do you think a clash strip is actually for?

the stupid suggestion is yours. the combo isn't about specific elements of the 2 or 3 strips. it's a combo of the jumper, short and socks. if you don't realise already, most clubs already do this by wearing white shorts with the home jumper and some add to it by putting an ineffective little white band around black or navy socks.

and i'm unsure what a clash strip is for, because the AFL and clubs don't seem too either.

The big difference is that in GB their would already be a reasonably large following of NFL. But how many Chinese follow AFL? I'd say not a great deal.

Yep I am sure you immediately thought of it way back then
Nothing to do with a BF post all about it

Yes I did, as have others. A similar thought was floating around when games were being played in NZ even further back. It was suggested by some that Collingwood play there as it is their national colours.

You see, what gets me here is the sheer arrogance of your ignorance.

Its not that you didnt make such an obvious the connection yourself; we all think differently and god knows that ive missed some pretty glaring things in my life.

But you find the connetion between China and the colours red & gold to be so obscure, the idea of someone making it is completley unfathomable to you.

And to top it off youre a port supporter! Theres a pattern emerging here. Whats going on at Alberton?

The Chinese colours are obv a big concern for Port and Kosh.

Port came up with the China thing. Port has done all the work for the China match. And GC obv must have agreed to wear their away strip to be part of the deal??
Why is this obvious?

Seems more obvious that Port didn't really think things through.

no they don't. It used to be the case that white shorts were the way of distinguishing between home and away teams. In general, it's still done that way. Same with socks if teams do that.

They aren't going ok, well we play team x on 5th June, on that day we will pick the light-coloured clash jumper, hmm, but we'll wear our usual dark shorts from our home strip, that makes sense, and what about we make it all pop by mixing and matching the socks from the clash strip?

No. They wear the home strip. The away strip. Or the clash strip.

For example, my team has one strip it uses in almost all occasions. That is, the black jumper and red sash. Our home strip includes black shorts. Our away strip includes white shorts. Approximately 3 times a year, when we play a select group of teams deemed to clash, and it's their home game, we wear our clash strip, which is a red jumper and red sash with black outline, and white shorts. We only ever wear the same red and black hooped socks.

At no point ever do we decide that we will wear, for example, our red jumper, and our black shorts. We either wear our home strip, our away strip, or our clash strip.

Like every club. Home, away, or clash. NOT a bespoke mix of the 3

Not you personally, Kosch.
Ahh I see, yeah he's got no one but himself to blame. What he has done for PA as president has been outstanding and this game in China wether it's successful or not will bring in a heap of cash for the club but he really should have checked over the agreement first before getting GC involved. The Suns would be foolish not to capitalise on this opportunity

Ha ha only took the second paragraph to go to 'ignorant and arrogant'

And .. "theres a pattern emerging here ".....s******..

Yawn
Your whole post was based on me not knowing Gold Coasts's colours

When I had already posted it was rather that I didn't care

Because Gold Coast will only be one of 16 others that Port will play over the next 10 years..

Port won't be playing anyone other than China's favourite suns.

So who payed $500,000 for the match? I wonder ...

I understand the colours thing, its likely GC will get more out of this game but 10 years is bound to work out well for Port.
So because we were in a ****ing terrible financial position and were cockblocked by SA Footy in general and got given some money until 4 years ago, we've done nothing and it was all the AFL? Do you know how much sense that makes? Not much.
All you campaigners who keep shit talking Port because we want to start a venture that no one has dared to try before, and want to have a couple of things our way, which we are definitely entitled to, mind you, I can only say, pull your heads in.

Why would Port Adelaide be entitled to wear its home guernsey in an away match? :drunk:
