Game Day Port v Carlton

Carlton going in as favorites doesn't make any sense.

Beat them in the middle, which we should, and our lack of height in defense won't be exposed.

Will be interested to see who gets JHFs minutes in the middle.

Travis Boak is breaking the record for most game for a player at a South Australian club today. (Actually not a piss take this time)

Carlton are Port circa 2015-2019.

If you let them do what they want and aren't prepared to put pressure on them or lock the ball in your forward 50 with a solid defensive effort, they will cut you to ribbons. The last three teams they played have a negative differential for inside 50s - three of the worst teams in the comp for that stat. Port, on the other hand, is the best team in the competition for inside 50 differential. Another aspect of Carlton is that if you can restrict them to less than 25 scoring shots, they will inevitably lose - their midfield just doesn't work hard enough to generate enough looks for their forwards when the pressure is on.

We stick to method and process, lock the ball inside our 50, and we win easily. I don't really like pulling the Roger Federer card, but in this case it's true - any loss will be because the team is jaded -which is part of the reason why introducing fresh faces to the lineup in Burgoyne, Jonas, Mead and Lord who might not be part of the best 23 is so important.

For an AFL team. Don't fall into the trap that the AFL likes to do and refer to itself as the sole holder of records.

See Pendlebury v Bradley for most number of possessions in Australian football.

Too many changes and too unsettled for my liking. Hopefully Lycett is 100% fit and Jonas and Duursma can justify the call up. Not sure what the thinking on Narkle is as I think he has done OK with limited opportunities so the Power's loss is the Port Magpies' gain. Given Rioli and Horne-Francis' unavailability I thought Burton may be value somewhere in the mix, he has the ability to play up forward or down back so maybe as the tactical sub?

Without Lycett our rucks are a real mess and using Dixon in ruck comes at a cost as we are finding out this week. Hopefully Big Charlie will be back next week but Charlie has a history of lingering injury and rarely misses just one week.

Hoping for it not to be an overly frustrating game this afternoon, as I can’t drink this weekend due to being on pain meds after trying to break my ankle and smash my knee on tuesday. So Carlton by 10 points, because it has been a week 😒

Stop rollerblading! :D

Charlie needs a knee op aside from the ankle, he'll be a managed peg leg for the rest of the season.

Problem was I was just walking and there was a gap in the pavement and garden bed and kerb. Left Ankle gave way twisted in the opposite direction and my right knee smacked into the cement. Walking in crutches when both legs are cactus is just fun. Knee is currently all shades of the rainbow. Whilst stuck in the gutter waiting for the ambulance even the cops pulled over, think they may have thought I was drunk.

But I heard Pendlebury has had the most possessions in the history of the game.

JB and BT told me so last week.
