Given that Brisbane still have to play Collingwood in Melbourne later this year, it can be reasonable to suggest 18 wins will be enough to get the coveted top 2 spot on the ladder heading into finals.

Looking at Port's schedule, the last three games of the year should be wins, getting them to 17. Hence, they need to win one of the next 4 to have a great chance at locking that top 2 spot in.

A win today essentially gives the Club a free hit at the next three games (Collingwood, Showdown and at Geelong) because even if they lost all three they'd still likely win the last three of the year to get to the 18 win mark.

Whilst a loss today isn't the end of the world, it would be a significant opportunity lost given the fixture of the next 3 weeks.

I don't think the betting odds should have moved in the fashion they did. Despite the significant number of changes, Port did bring in some clear best 22 players back into the side - specifically Lycett and Duursma. Given Charlie is playing on one leg and JHF has been significantly down on form due to injury this past month, their outs for Lord and Mead aren't as significant as they appear to be on paper either.

My only real concern is dropping Burton for Burgoyne and bringing Jonas back in. There doesn't appear to be a clear matchup for Jonas. He's too small for McKay or Curnow and too slow to keep up with them on the lead. He has spent more time on his arse falling down in marking contests than actually offering a nullification of said contest this season - and if he goes to either player I expect no different. I would actually play him on Silvagni where he mightn't get as exposed for a lack of pace. Let Bergman or Jones take Curnow, let Aliir take McKay and hope like hell the midfield don't allow easy forward 50 entries for the opposition.

Above all else, just win. Having lived in Melbourne for 9 years I found Carlton to be up there with Essendon supporters as the most unbearable. Having knocked off the Bombers 2 weeks ago beating these pricks today would be extremely self satisfying.

Carn Port.

Carlton play Hinkleyball and we are a top 8 side. We know how this works. Just need to turn up.

I was a bit nervous about this game during the week, Carlton in Melbourne, Victorian umpires, Blues on a roll.

But started to think about who Carlton have beaten and that we are a genuine heavyweight this year and even with the outs Hinkley is right, the incoming group know how to play our way. Duursma and Lycett make us better, Lord can contribute to a solid level, the others will do a job. And so many outs should get rid of any complacency with hungry players with something to prove.

Looking forward to the game, Rozee, Butters, Wines, Boak, Drew rolling through the midfield. Peps crashing through the forward line and Aliir doing Aliir things. Hope Lord has a breakout game, and kicks a few.

Win today and it should secure a top 2 position which will be huge.

Yes our backline will be weaker but if we control the ball in the midfield we should win. Our forward line remains stronger then their defence and our midfield has speed which they lack.

Hope to see the likes of mead/Burgoyne etc have good games as they are essentially auditioning for a finals spot in this side now and they won’t be taking it easy. Heck even Jonas will know he’s playing for his career and spot as captain in our finals run.

Carlton supporters are the worst winners in the league. This game is very droppable, we are so due a flat game it's not funny and I fear this could be it. Losing is not the end of the world, but as I said Carlton supporters are the worst winners in the league..... so * them.
Well luckily i cant ever remember a time they could really call themselves winners but I'll beleive you

Port Adelaide by 25 with Dan Houston racking up his first 50 disposal game

The only 2 games i havent been able to watch port play at all are the the 2 losses

Boy do i have some news for you
To counter this, I'm pretty sure I won't get to watch today either, and so far the only 2 games I haven't been able to watch live properly have both been Port after the siren wins.

Maybe a full time loss but then a goal after the siren ticks the boxes for both of us

When the sun sets over Carlton
And the moonlight floods the streets
All those pizza places and spaced out places
They all get on the beat

When the sun sets over Carlton
And the stars begin to shine
All those grey-haired writers and drunken fighters
They all step out in line

Everything to play for with Brisbane losing yesterday. Top 2 is nearly secured with a win today.
