Port, window of opportunity still open?

Yeah, Port generally prefer the formality of an execution as opposed to a spur-of-the-moment beheading.

If we have a poor start, then yes, Port will no doubt start talking to replacement coaches from mid-season. Choco may or may not know this.

If its discovered, Port will claim it is standard operating procedure for when the coach is out-of-contract....same as how they interviewed other coaches than Choco when Cahill got the axe, even though the choice was obvious.

Is Tredrea still at Port?

Of course the window is still well and truly open.

Port Adelaide was the best performed side for the season. But sadly for Port fans not when it mattered.

What the youth like at Port?

Will blokes like Saklopek (not sure if that is spelt right) make the next step?

Right in the mix again this season. Will finish anywhere from 1st to 3rd.

Don't listen to Essendon supporters talk about windows. For them it has been closed for 2 years now and they still can't face that fact.

For sure the window's still open for Port. Brisbane are still holding it open, while Collingwood are jostling for position near the window (although they're not quite sure they like the window). Freo and West Coast can see the window, but probably need another season or so to get close enough to open it. St Kilda are probably entering the room, but its a long way to the window from there, while Essendon and Adelaide are probably backing back out the door. Sydney are pacing back and forth, and noone knows if they are capable of opening the window, while Hawthorn are taking up station just outside the room.

He'll definately know it. you and I will even know it for a fact. The problem is there will be a number of clubs looking for a coaches and there will be race.

Anyway, it's an unlikely scenario and I agree Port are unlikely in that unlikely scenario to axe him mid season.

There is no huge reason why we should go from winning 18 games this year to winning 11 or 12 and being in the bottom half of the 8.
Port won 6 games last year by less than three goals - it wouldn't take all that much of a drop in form to see them fall down the ladder.

That being said, I'd expect them to go top 4 again.

Yeah, its probably a deceptive stat in Port's case as we were coasting for most of the second half of the year. We definitely deserved to lose a couple of them due to half-arsed last quarter efforts, but still hung on (except against Geelong). No killer instinct.

IMO, class clubs NEVER sack coaches midseason. Essendon hasnt done it for a long time, Hawthorn even longer, Collingwood for more than 20 years..

On the other hand St. Kilda, Richmond and a few others have been renowned for it.. And the results have shown.

Unless there is a bloody good reason, the coach should be given the year to finish up.
