What can I say, I was so inspired by the apologies thread for the Crows after their loss.

Rioli has been discredited a lot this week after his position in the AA team.

Hawthorn fans know what he does each week, but because of the medias focus on him since the start of his amazing career for the flashier things, his hard work and presences is denied. He is the kind of player that if he wins the Norm Smith, then Hawthorn will win the grand final easily.

He was immense tonight and one of the BOG.

Credit is due.

If anything, the fact he only had a big 5 minutes is what a lot of people have been critical on Rioli about.

That, and people were criticising his selection in the AA team, a team based on H&A season form, anything he produces in finals is irrelevant.

As a hawks fan though, would you pick Rioli over Mitchell?

Sometimes I feel so embarrassed to be a Hawks supporter on BF
Why you gotta post shit like this on the main board man...
He played well tonight but 4 other Adelaide guns played better (Thompson, Walker, Dangerfield, Tippett) as well as Mitchell and Sewell.

This is why I rate Rioli highly; he doesn’t need 100 possessions to be effective or change the course of the match. He only needs realistically 5 or 6 good touches and he’ll change match immediately. This is why he made the AA, stats are meaningless to a player of his quality, Watch him win Norm Smith next week

Can't tell if satirical or serious

5 match winning minutes. Add to that 26 possessions, 16 contested, 4 inside 50s, 4 clearances, 2 goals and the beat goes on....

Rioli is like Floyd Mayweather or C.Ronaldo for example, doesn’t need a high input or useless stats to change the course of a match. His precious kicking, goals and tackles can instantly change the match, he isn’t like seagulls’ like Swan for example, and who needs 30 touches just too barely affect the match. He is calculative with his disposal and is ruthlessly efficient in front of goal. You cannot stop him or simply put a tag on him, it’s impossible; all you can realistically do hope he has a bad match. This kid is already one of the game greats, his balance, finesse, agility, acceleration and awareness is second to none.

There isn’t a simplistic stat they can describe that talent this kid is

BOG. This Proves how underrated he is. People here still try and say he was say 8th best only. You need to see more than just stats. Impact. Thompson better. Just no.

He still only played about 25% of the game, but that 25% was very good. He at least stood up when the game looked shot. The problem was, if he was consistent and played four quarters he wouldn't need to turn it on in the last quarter.

I think people don't understand the criticism, he could be a significantly better play if he put four quarter efforts in, nobody who is off during so much of games should even be carrying the drinks for an all australian team.

He has enough talent to be one of the greats but he doesn't apply himself, he just doesn't work hard enough. You have to ask him why he didn't attack the ball and the contests like he did when he turned it on. He is just performing so far from his own full potential that it is almost as wasteful as Gary Ablett snr before he extracted the digit. He just plays for 10 minutes a game, what a waste, he could have been anything.

He definitely shouldn't be rewarded or gushed over, he needs to look at the effort Goodes puts in, he has two brownlow medals, Rioli wont get within spitting distance of one even if the brownlow is tailor made for flashy players.
