Happy to canvas opinions from other neutral followers, but I'd wager that I'm not alone in my opinion there. Could be a great bloke off the footy field (though I don't like those reports about him deliberately interviewing poorly pre-draft with certain clubs,) but definitely carries himself with a pretty major air of arrogance on the ground. Not that that's a bad thing, but isn't especially endearing to opposition fans.

who gives a toss?

I do hope you took this stance in any number of Crow "circle jerk" threads on this board as well.
Why do u care about what Adelaide supporters are doing?

Their season is over, let them commiserate how they want.

And let's face it, they outperformed even their own expectations tonight, they deserve a special mention.

Let the hatetards do their thing, we know every single supporter would kill for a "Cyril" on their team. You have more important things to worry about like GF matchups, fitness of Hodge, Guerra etc etc.

Couldn't disagree more.

He has terrific on field character. I don't know what you're seeing.

If anything, the fact he only had a big 5 minutes is what a lot of people have been critical on Rioli about.

That, and people were criticising his selection in the AA team, a team based on H&A season form, anything he produces in finals is irrelevant.

Garbage. He had a good match even forgetting his match winning efforts at the death. People have perceptions about players and Rioli being a burst player is a myth. He won't get 35 touches, but his influence on games is massive and his consistency is underated.

Very good player and had a great game tonight. However:

1. This thread is unnecessary, people who have ingrained opinions will not change them over his game

2. Sydney are not stupid and will strangle the life out of him, so you are asking for this to be bumped regardless of whether you win or not

This perception of him as a flashy player who can be tagged out if it is false IMO. His defensive work is elite, each touch he gets is worth 5 of Dane Swan. He won't be stopped.

I didn't say anything to that effect. Sydney are an elite defensive team and to have an impact he'll need to play up the ground to use his pressure and he hasn't proven he has the tank to run out full games in the midfield yet.

He may very well be stopped.

Dear Squirrel,

Sorry for calling you inconsistent...

Whilst nobody has ever questioned your match winning abilities, there has been question marks over your consistency to play well week in week out. This has obviously been rectified hence the thread.

Again I'm sorry and I hope you will stop taking your anger out on opponents by pushing them under the ball.

Regards,

SS

Place this picture out the front of Cyrils house and he won't sleep all week.

Quite a few Hawthorn supporters boasted during the season that it's always oppositions supporters bringing Rioli into every argument (not true, btw) so why the need for all this validation? It's so desperate.

Its threads like these which really annoy supporters of other clubs. Yes rioli was very good tonight, i personally would have had him in the top 5 players on the ground but to go out calling for people to apologise for not wanting him in the AA team is just ridiculous. Made even more so by the fact that finals games should have no bearing whatsoever on selection within the AA side.

Now over the course of the season yes the hawks have been the best side this year, yes they also deserve to go in as flag favourites and yes with a full list to choose from they are the most talented side in the competition as well. Threads like this will only continue to build up more and more anti-sentiment towards the hawks heading into the future. I'll admit until the mid 2000's i absolutely hated the hawks and that was mainly from the late 80's and the 91 grand final with the older bodied hawks beating up on the eagles physically. (i also thought you guys had your fair share of thugs at times) But i was genuinely very pleased when you guys won the 2008 premiership and stoked for crawfs. Even today going into the game i was hoping for a hawks win. The manner in which the umpires carried them and the seeming nonchalance of the media and your supporters had me surprisingly rooting for adelaide. Going forwards i think you guys would do very well to take a chapter our of the geelong handbook in regards to a little thing known as humility as of the recent sides to win premierships they have been far and away the best in regards to their supporters on here.

It's hard not to like a team that has such offensive ability and players of such pure brilliance in buddy and rioli but sometimes its best to keep some threads on your club boards. Besides for all the haters there's always time to rip into schoenmakers for his inability to defend one on one, puopolo for being a diver and for the seemingly divine art of one handed "handballs".

Choked many times in front of goal and the goals he got were in the goal square..

Another overrated performance.

He turned it over 3 times during the game that lead to goals to Adelaide.

First ever time in a Final he had the ball over 20 times and all of the sudden we should apologies to the most overrated player in the game?

Look at Varcoe in the GF 2011. Did Cats supporters look for apologies and did the media write articles on his greatness..

Rioli and Buddy are Hawthorns marketing engine.
