AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
My starting 18 for R11 -
Goddard,Heppell,Scotland,terlich
Ablett,pendles,Watson,dangerfield, swan,Priddis, O'Meara k.Martin
Goldstein nicnat
Bartel, Stevie J, Cox, JJK,
Then I have Thurlow, Macaffer, B.Kennedy
also on my field but probably won't be in my best 18 scores by the end of the round.
What would be par for this round? 2000?
Most people wont have 15 premo's playing this week. Par will be 1750-1800 IMHO
Scoring 2000 this week will be the equivalent of 2350+ from a non bye round.
Sweet! Good times hopefully can crack the top 100 overall after this week!
Aslong as you trade right you could be top 1000 by the end R13 IMO very similar team to myself! Unlucky to be 3800 at moment! Your on the right track!I have used my three trades this week and my team looks like:
DEF: Goddard, Enright, Heppel, Terlich, Thurlow, Sierakowski
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Watson, JPK, Danger, Swan, Murphy, Priddis
RUCK: Cox, Belcho,
FWD: Steve J, Bartel, Walker, Kennedy, Macaffer
I have bolded the players I expect to count for my top 18 score this week. But also have the three players as backup if one fails to perform.. Some could argue Macaffer should be included with his recent performance.. I guess having more playing is a good problem for me.
My strategy is to come out of the guns this week and drop in ranking (currently 3800). Most team will play conservative this week so this could be my chance.
Question I have is do you think I will struggle come round 13?

Well, considering you have 10 Rd13 bye premo's with 6 of them being in the Mids, yes, yes you will. Might be worth sideways trading Murphy to a better performing Rd11/12 bye mid just before his bye to lessen the blow.

DEF: Goddard, Birchall, Gibbs, Hartlett, Goodes, Vlas - Staker, Thurlow
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Watson, JPK, Barlow, Lids, SJ, Ball - Crouch, Martin
RUCK: Goldstein, Blicavs - Daw, Rowe
FWD: Bartel, Cox, Martin, JJK, Franklin, Boomer - Caff Kennedy
This is my team going into the 3 bye rounds. I have made 3 trades this week, but do not want to make any more for a few weeks. Maybe 1 for the r13 bye. I have a structure of 21-20-19. Currently ranked 450th overall so it is pretty crucial what decisions I make from here.
How do others think this looks? I feel I am in a pretty good position. Blics can stay where he is till he starts to fail, then cox will swap straight into the rucks.
Thoughts Gingy?
You really only need 1 maybe 2 more upgrades, Blicavs > Premo and perhaps Ball > Rd11/12 bye super-premo mid before his Rd13 bye, but really you could get away with not making any trades in Rd12 or 13 which is 3-4 less than I am making.
Pretty good effort to have almost a complete side by Rd11, how many trades do you have left?
If you have a luxury trade or 2 available later in the season you might want to use them on a Hartlett/Goodes/Vlastuin/JJK type if they fall away in the second half of the season, but for now all are scoring well enough to be starters.

Yea I will monitor JJK closely, but atm he is doing his job and not really worth wasting a trade for. If It does come down to trading him I will just swap SJ back into the forwards for him and pick up another premo mid as their scoring potential is far higher than the premo forwards. But yea in the meantime no point trading him, he gets his 80-110 weekly.Wow looks good! Hopefully Hartlett continues to pick up his scores.
On top of Gingy's comments, I would probably suggest trading out JJK in R12, West Coast doesn't have the easiest run after that. But hey, there's a reason why you're going sub 500 overall and I'm where I am.
Thanks mate. I have 12 left and want to sit on that for as long as possible. If Blics starts to drop off I will most probably swap Cox into rucks and upgrade Caff to Rockliff/Roo or someone like that. What's your current rank?
5k is a great position if you have been saving and ready to pounce over the next few weeks. These 3 rounds are where you can make up a lot of ground. I had your philosophy but earlier on. Saved hard early and upgraded for the last 4 weeks or so. I think 5 weeks ago I was ranked 10-15k? Every week moved up 2-3k and now sitting nicely in the top 500. I scored 2397 last week which was 200th odd for the round, which moved me up into this bracket.Good trade.
I'm ranked a lowly 5,606 ATM, after dropping 2k last week (shocking Rd, scored/scraped to 2000 ranked 88k for Rd10 ) also dropped 2k over the two previous weeks. But having said that, I did a lot of downgrading and am armed with $$$ to make 7 upgrade trades over the bye rounds and will be starting 15-16 premo's in each MBR. If all goes to plan I'll hopefully be back in the top 1k by Rd14 with a complete side and very solid bench depth with 7 trades remaining.
inb4 I'm struck down with multiple injuries/restings to premo's.

I guess I have been lucky to dodge the bullets and haven't been hit hard by injuries, which will no doubt come soon enough as it always does.
Yeh, I've sort of gone the opposite to you, was ranked 450 after 4 rounds, but then started declining albeit slowly up until last weeks 2k drop. I've had it in my head since Rd7 that making a run during the MBR's would be the best way (for my team) to climb the rankings. Am looking forward to the next 3 weeks, hopefully all will go to plan and will join you and toxic & Judd_Magic as one of the better teams from here.

Yea you will be right up there after the Byes, some people are really going to struggle. Looking at a few of the top ranked teams they have not planned at all for it.
