Backs: Goddard, Shaw, Deledio, Broughton, Hargrave, Clarke, Ellis (Bugg, Morris)

Mids: Swan, Murphy, Thompson, Ablett, Shiel, McDonald (Magner, Gibson)

Rucks: Hale, Kreuzuer (Giles, Stephenson)

Fwds: Goodes, Martin, Sidebottom, Fyfe, Franklin, D. Smith, Dickson (Dell'Olio, Paine)

25k left. Aside from rookies, which i'll edit depending on round 1 squads, what are peoples thoughts? I'm happy with my ruck set up, tad risky, but i like it-I plan on upgrading Hale later on, but I'm gambling on Kreuzer to be a keeper.

I was toying with essentially a Goodes vs Carrazzo decision, and will likely change a couple times. Even tried to fit in Boyd at one stage to make 5 premium midfielders but then there were too many rookies in the forward line.

Really like the look of your side, not sure on Hale or Sidebottom. But if you have a plan for Hale worth the risk i think.

Redden will outscore Stephenson by quite a bit imo. Other than that, nice team, different.

Please comment on my team, rookies are subject to small changes but the rest are settled. Throwing up between J.Caddy or S.Coniglio, feel Caddy is going to have a breakout year, but for the lower price maybe Coniglio is better value.

DEF: H.Scotland, B.Deledio, D.Heppell, M.Golby, R.Hargrave, B.Ellis, S.Darley (T.Bugg, S.Morris)

MID: S.Pendlebury, M.Boyd, G,Ablett, S.Thompson, S.Coniglio, S.Clifton (A.Miles, J.Magner)

RUCK: S.Jacobs, I.Maric (J.Giles, J.Redden)

FWD: L.Franklin, N.Fyfe, T.Cloke, D.Martin, P.Dangerfield, S.Byrnes, D.Smith (T.Dickson, T.Couch)

With the strength of your mids it could probably do without coniglio and use the cash to pump up Danger or Golby. Personally i'm not fussed on either of those, or Maric. Obviously, like you said for my team, comes down to what you have planned i guess.

I am starting to consider Falou, just dont think a lot of the fwd rookies are going to play in the early rounds where Izzy is guaranteed a game at least the first 5 rounds, and with few other focal points up fwd for GWS he is unlikely to be subbed so should play 80%+ of game time, even if he avg 50 points his value should increase enough to trade him in later, would never have him in my starting team but think he is a better option that say Couch on the bench and only 11k more expensive.

Rookie forwards are the biggest question marks of all positions, no question.

Not bad but I'd like to see your reasoning as to why you are starting Giles as the 2nd ruck. I've read reports that when Brogan comes back, Giles' ruck time will be drastically reduced and will result in a more ruck/forward role instead.

Any observations and suggestions appreciated.

B.Goddard H.Shaw G.Birchall R.Hargrave M.Clarke B.Ellis B.Wilkes
T.Bugg S.Morris

S.Pendlebury G.Ablett J.Bartel P.Dangerfield A.Gaff C.Masten
D.Shiel J.Magner

S.Mumford J.Giles
O.Stephenson J.Redden

L.Franklin M.Pavlich M.Robinson D.Martin S.Sidebottom A.Christensen J.Porplyzia
D.Smith D.Pfeiffer

Now for justifiying...
1. I know the mids don't look as strong as some other teams but I don't think Gaff or Masten will wear the vest this year...
2. I have been disappointed by Dangerfield in previous years but he is set to spend more time mid this year.
3. Rucks are a tough one, really need one of the three rooks to perform.
4. Not too many good rook back men but Ellis will play consistently due to good kicking skills (might b lacking at the tigers). Wilkes should play at the Saints after the loss of Dawson and the kids are probably a little inexperienced just yet. (saints supporters may well disagree)

Thoughts/criticism please

Just re-read my post, bad choice of words, should have said "more even mids while retaining growth potential".

Premiums have a premium price tag for a reason. That reason being 120+ scores regularly. Those 3 you highlighted do this on a regular basis. Give up the advice giving if you are going to post rubbish.

I understand where you're coming from but I've picked so many rookies I went for premiums as sure things. Bottom line I don't really care about a bit of growth from my premiums, I'm all about packing in the best possible rookies and trying to get some score security with flawless premiums that even the $400Ks look are much of a risk for my liking.

Heres my team, Last year I went with up and comers which landed me in the top 1000 for most of the season I dont think I can go with that strategy this year the up and comers are pretty expensive I'd love to get Gaff in there but.

Thinking of going with this:

B: Scotland, Goddard, Deledio, Broughton, Hargrave, Bower, Morris, Bugg, Darley

C: Ablett, Watson, Goodes, Hayes, Cooney, Vince, Shiel, Magner

Rucks: Kreuzer, Redden, Giles, Stephenson

F: Pavlich, Fyfe, Martin, Sidebottom, Dangerfield, Porplyzia, D.Smith, A.Kennedy, S.Kerridge

I'm thinking Watson, Hayes, Cooney & Vince should be able to up their price quite quickly as they seem under valued to me.

Plan on moving Goodes to forward line and moving one of the rookies to the midfield to trade out once they fatten up.

Only concern is the Rucks....
