Lots of tinkering and actually posting my team for the first time here, so much still to be done I am sure but this is as close as I have felt to something decent.

Any advice appreciated.

Shiel, why would you start him? played 75% of a reserves game only, i would wait a few weeks for him

i would swap Lake for Hargrave and then upgrade those rookie mids to a safer rookie like Conoglio or Tyson who will start in the midfield

just my opinion, similar to my team

Also Couch didn't get elevated so be careful there

Resonably happy with my team, all though would be interested in peoples thoughts as I am sure there are some holes that I am missing.

Goddard, Deledio, Grimes, Conca, Lake, Hargreave, Ellis (Docherty, Spurr)

Swan, Boyd, Ablett, Gibbs, Polec, Wingard (Miles, Magner)

Ryder, Kruezar (Giles, Stephenson)

Franklin, Fyfe, Cloke, Zahrakis, Porplyzia, Pfefifer, D Smith (Kerridge, Couch)

Have $132k in the bank, having 2 rookies starting in the fwd line, but just not sure there is any value in the $200k priced players (besides Porps) and the players in this bracket are no more likely to play than the rookies I have, and will look for an upgrade to Stevie J or Chappy asap Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Just rolling with the 6 backline rookies?

My reasoning is that it's a lot easier to upgrade to backline premiums than midfield premiums because they're 100k or so cheaper, whereas the cash generating/scoring potential for backline rookies isn't that much lower than mids (Barlow types aside).

I'm not convinced that Lake and Hargrave can average 90+ so might just see how they go in the first few rounds. I'm considering adding another back by ditching Leuenberger because Mumford is the only ruck I'm convinced on. I might wait and see how the big guys go before I pick ruck number 2.

I might need to fiddle with actual players though as Scotland, Goddard, Morris, Ellis, Deledio could be hard to navigate, even if it is the last bye.

Bold selections are bold.

If they pay off you've done well but I'd back a number of those to fall short. You've only got 9 genuine premiums so you're going to need a number of those to become keepers if you want to complete your team.

Conca will earn you cash but I can't see him averaging 90+.

Rucks are risky but with question marks over a number of premiums it could pay off big time if both step up. I'm not trusting Zac Smith.

I don't know much about Armstrong so you're probably in a better position to judge but he seems like a bit of a nothing pick as he wont earn cash or average a huge amount. Same with Matera.

Again if you think they're in for break out years you'll do extremely well.

I'd use that to upgrade one of Conca or Grimes, or perhaps Ryder. You might need to downgrade one of your others (Polec, Wingard, Docherty) in order to free up the cash for a top notch defender though

I have a big hole to fill in my forward line when it come to round 13 as I got Cloke, Fyfe and Sidey in the forward and when it come to round 13, I might have to cop a doughnut.

Should I downgrade one of these to Dangerfield and use the cash to upgrade Lake to a midpricer like Waters or Hanley?

It's a constant balance between coming up with something unique, and at the same time trying not to stray too far from what most are using as a base, because they're usually doing it for a good reason.

Round 11 backs. Bugg and Darley will be my first targets to offload, and upgrade at least one of Waters, Lake or Hargrave by then. Also looking at Golby to replace one of the dogs but that gives the same bye issue anyway.

waters, hargrave and lake in the same team car crash bound to happen. would get rid of heppell for lids. Maybe sneak in another top player in the mids with a down grade of porplyzia

I agree, the whole starting Giles I feel is fraught with danger. Zac smith was spruiked to a similar level of Giles last year and whilst he was very good in terms of being a cash cow I just don’t think averaging 70 is good enough for a starting player when there are plenty of Ruckmen around that should avg 90+. I am putting a bit of faith in Kruezar and Ryder to step it up this year.. Am a little worried about Ryder but if he is not performing I have Orrenson and Giles on the bench who I will downgrade once there price rises and swap Ryder for Cox or Goldstein..
