If Scott selects Gold Coast he is not serious about becoming the best footballer he can be.
Could be captain in about four seasons. though.
If the club is still around then...

Agree, if it's lifestyle or family reasons I can see him staying there if it's about what is best for his career he should pick us.

3 or 4 years watching Selwood Ablett and Danger up close and how they go about it would certainly assist any young players career, as apposed to the no names currently occupying the GC midfield. Why?

Lets look at this thru rational eyes.. if he comes to Geelong.. where does he fit?
Hasn’t it been reported he’s ruled north out?Why not North?

Are we just a little bit arrogant ... what is this generation Y X Z whatever.. maybe they look at things a bit differently.... then again.. perhaps he should have a talk to some previous Suns and perhaps a few guys who have played in side under the hammer. ..like Schache.

Fogarty hasn’t grabbed a spot on either wing, why would Scott? Duncans magnet is glued down on one side of the whiteboard for starters. He’d have to commence his career as a small forward more than likely just like the rest of the young kids we’ve drafted in recent years.
All Im saying from my seat at my age.. it looks obvious which club to go for his development but from his position maybe its not as obvious..he may see stuff inside the clubs..just like Oscar is seeing inside ours.. that convinces him that they are on the right track. Dew must know what he wants it be like. ..and just like daz points out CC would probably be getting games up there but down here we are taking the the more long term development approach. Im not sure what appeals to his type the most ..the slow and stead with perhaps the chance to break in like Fogetity if he is up to it or games and pressure from day one.. Id prefer to know how to ski before trying the black run... but most players I hear talk say.. I really hate watching. Our system is good to very good.. and as he is mid..id say very good to best. Not really GC have a terrible record with development of players and injury management and are set for a long rebuild. We consistently compete for finals and have a good teaching environment great facilities and the surf coast lifestyle. These are reasons why we keep attracting players.
As for the rest guys like Cunico, Fogarty, Parsons, Gregson, Jones etc are all guys currently in the side who he is more than good enough to get games ahead of.
One of your best daz ...Im not sure arrogant is correct TC - biased perhaps.
We are all outside both clubs in reality so form our views accordingly but id suggest if you did a straw poll of what environment/culture/facilities (ie non playing factors) would be the most, or close it, inviting to a player to join - GFC would rate one of if not the most desirable.
If BS wants game time immediately then Id say GCS - but if its development then its us.
Look at Constable this year.
JLT was getting 20 touches. Kept that up thru VFL until he got concussed. Club took him out of the mix and used the concussion recovery time to instill a month long training block mid season into him (partially due to his lack of preseason but also being Yr1 they like to "mini preseason train" the rookies to help their fitness base).
Hes now getting 30 a game last month or so and cant get a senior gig. I find it hard to believe that in the GCS current state he would have been held back. I know it annoying to an extent but I also see the benefit of letting the 18 year olds slow burn in their development. Footy can be a long career and getting the right base can be important. Every player is different too.
I dunno - JS came in yr 1 and will play 350 games. Jansen came to the club as a huge bodied MF and never played a game. WE will see.
AS for the generational thing - XYZ - the younger ones certainly want it all now and dont give a toss ( in general) about what you need to do to get it.
With BS's decision - I hope its made with what he feels is best for him both on and off the field. Id see that with us but thats just me.
GO Catters
Depends who you ask.Hasn’t it been reported he’s ruled north out?
Does anyone else think that the longer it is before Bailey makes a decision on going to Gold Coast the closer he is to joining us as F/S ?
Look at it from a Gold Coast point of view - If he had told them he wanted to join them as part of the academy surely they would announce it with all bells and whistles that the Allies U/18 captain would be joining them in 2019
The 2018 season definitely finishes for Gold Coast in two weeks, he maybe waiting until our season comes to an end before informing us and the Gold Coast
I think we might be closer to getting him to the club than we all think.
Scott would be perfect fit for us. Leadership material
GAJ would be perfectly positioned to advise young Scott. Are we just a little bit arrogant ... what is this generation Y X Z whatever.. maybe they look at things a bit differently.... then again.. perhaps he should have a talk to some previous Suns and perhaps a few guys who have played in side under the hammer. ..like Schache.

It’s certainly unusual he is taking so long there’s really no reason unless he’s actually still unsure. Two of the clubs have finished for the year and I’m not sure what impact it did make even though Geelong are still playing.Interesting to read Geelong fans' take on the Scott situation. Bailey seems to be holding his cards VERY close to his chest and doesn't seem keen on giving any indication as to which way he's leaning. All I've heard is the general feel is he's slightly leaning more towards staying on the Gold Coast but I honestly think none of the media really know. I guess from a Gold Coast perspective, I would have thought our midfield/best 22 would be easier to get into for a draftee than North or Geelong's so perhaps that plays into our favour. On the flip side, maybe he's fully aware of our deficiencies and would like tutelage under greats like Ablett, Danger or Selwood and is leaning towards the Cats for that reason. Alternatively, North may be employing some under the table tactics to get him over the line (I jest). No one really knows what he values more at this point.
Having said that, there is this video of him winning our academy player of the year award from our best and fairest night over the weekend. He certainly seems appreciative of the pathway we've provided him but I'm no more convinced he's going to choose us after watching this video. What is a mystery young Bailey is!
How good is bailey Scott anyway??Blakey announced it very early .. so you have something of a point. ... I suspect he is waiting till the season has finished but I have no real reasoning behind that idea.

What draft range are we talking?
