Does Hine have much say in trades/free agency or is that more of the coaches who say what they want?
Gotta be Bucks. If he says who is to be traded out then he would also have majority decision on who is traded in.

Dumont as a smokie? Fits how we usually draft? Played well in GF, inside and out mid and also is versatile?

He has been pretty good this year and yeah his GF was good as well. I cant see him being a top 10 pick but it wouldnt surprise me if he goes before the 20th pick.

At this stage, with fairly limited knowledge, my preference is Bontempelli at 6 and Lennon at 10. Height and kicking skills the feature...and both have above average pace.

Otherwise if a guy like Sharenberg slips outside top 5 then I'd probably go that way at 6.

However I won't be dissapointed to see names such as Aish, Billings, Salem, Freeman or Crouch join our list.

Wouldn't go McCarthy. If we didn't get White then I'd consider it...but think our first priority now is to future-proof the midfield with Ball and Swan in their later years. Cloke and White realistically should be a decent combination for 5+ years...and Lynch should be around another 1 or 2 years....and we still have Reid as a forward prospect.

Dumont's probably someone who fits that 18-25 bracket. Hawthorn are confident on getting him with the second round pick which is the latest mail.

You can never rule a player our.

Hine said he pick the Best Player, Who ever it is. Type of Player won't come into it.

Who ever is on top of his list who has not been Selected will be called out

Exactly Dave.
People know this yet still crap on about "smokies" and "sliders".
Hine has his list, whoever is at the top of it when its his turn to speak, gets drafted to Collingwood.
Everything is just 'noise'

Do you see White being able to hold down a centre half forward or full forward?

His best games at Sydney came as a third tall, high half forward.

Being the second target is an entirely different game. I worry that if we play White in this role we are setting him up for failure.

What do you think of the three tall forward set-up? Does it work?

It works but only if you have the right 3 talls.

Cloke, Reid and White is a handy trio.

In saying this McCarthy stood up and took a strong mark in a big game, Salem played well against Pies VFL side and that's a pretty big game?

Salem played well against the div 2 sides then was much quieter vs the div 1 teams, how much this effects his rating only the scouts would know. Could be brushed off or could be seen as a flat track bully so to speak.

If we don't get Lennon I'm going to vomit. After Johnno retires there's plenty of room for another Ben

To be honest I just want White to give us a little bit more than Lynch did. I think we'll persist with Reid as the 3rd tall (even though I think he is still more useful as a defender), which means white will be the backup ruck.

It's more about taking pressure off Cloke. Cloke looked at his best with Reid and Lynch beside him. Just allowed the defence to seperate more. White just needs to give contests and also influence when on the ball.

In regards to my drafting preferences, I've gone colder on Bontempelli and really warmed to SHarenberg if he is available at 6.

Just think we really need that utility off half back with Heath Shaw gone.

Then I'm ont he Acres bandwagon at 10, but we will most likely go Lennon. I'm happy with Lennon if Hine thinks he has scope to become a big bodied midfielder as well.

Bontempelli is obviously a unique talent and I'd be excited to draft him. I just think it's a big risk to take on a pick 6 when you have a guy like SHarenberg who is also so highly rated and seemingly a bit safer.

I think we need to address our height issues. Far too many sub 185cm players. That's why I'd even consider Sharenberg over Aish...although I'd be equally as happy to draft Aish.

Ultimately I think we'll take Sharenberg and Lennon and I'd be wrapt with that.

Amazing how many of those guys in that draft are on the move, what is this generation coming too :(. Boyd already gone. Aish, Freeman, McCarthy and perhaps Lennon all floating themselves after 2 years of not much footy.

1 Thomas Boyd Greater Western Sydney
2 Josh Kelly Greater Western Sydney
3 Jack Billings St Kilda
4 Marcus Bontempelli Western Bulldogs
5 Kade Kolodjashnij Gold Coast
6 Matthew Scharenberg Collingwood
7 James Aish Brisbane Lions
8 Luke McDonald North Melbourne
9 Christian Salem Melbourne
10 Nathan Freeman Collingwood
11 Dom Sheed West Coast
12 Ben Lennon Richmond
13 Patrick Cripps Carlton
14 Cameron McCarthy Greater Western Sydney
15 Zak Jones Sydney
16 Darcy Lang Geelong
17 Michael Apeness Fremantle
18 Luke Dunstan St Kilda
19 Blake Acres St Kilda
20 Jack Leslie Gold Coast

That top 14 is pretty solid. Freeman is probably the only one marked fail so far, but that is more to do with injuries.
