....but a look at what we could hear come 2030. By then, Port Adelaide could have a full list of father/sons, with 45 players set to be eligible to be selected by the club under the current rules (100 AFL games or 200 SANFL games prior to 1996). [bold bit is wrong a player has to have played 200 SANFL games prior to 1997 ie our first game in the AFL - so the 1996 GF counts as an eligible game]

portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look into the crystal ball at what our team could look like come Round 1, 2030.

Possible Port Adelaide AFL team, Round 1, 2030 (ages at April 1, 2030):
FB: Noah Wilson (aged 27), Gillon Wakelin (22), Jake Bishop (22)
HB: Owen Montgomery (27), Jackson Mead (28), Ky Burgoyne (23)
C: Raphael Cornes (21), Eddy Cornes (23), Sonny Cornes (20)
HF: Taj Schofield (27), Nate Tredrea (21), Louis Salopek (21)

I wouldn't have thought we'll get Shaun's kids unless they really want to play with their cousins.

Depends if he moves back to Adelaide sometime in the next decade or so. If he does, that puts us in a strong position for any father son prospect.

inb4 someone like David Brown ended up playing 178-199 games for the Magpies and 22 for the Power

"Lol nah"

lol oh shiiiiiii- he actually did according to Wiki.

182 for Magpies (1987-1996)
22 for Power (1997-1998)

Is it possible that we draft father-son players from our '04 Premiership team before the Crows draft their first ever father-son player? That would be sweet.

yes it would be sweet ... but unfortunately they have 3 chances within the next 2 years to get their 1st father son. so they might get 1

The interesting thing is that all 3 are due at the same time (2016 draft) and the cows have traded one of their 2016 draft picks (their 2nd) so that will put them behind the 8 ball next year

It's also possible the father son prospects are rubbish and they aren't interested.

We're due. Geelong nabbing Scarlett, Ablett, Rooke and Hawkins in a ten year period is obscene - let alone the handful that turned out to be serviceable without being complete pox (Blake, Callan, N. Ablett, D. Johnson).

Interesting that they didnt mention Troy Chaplain who has a boy and I am fairly certain did play just over 100 games for us or were we saved that insult? I dont particularly want a chaplin playing for Port, but just want to check on whether the kid actually qualifies.

Just confirmed he played the following:
Previous AFL club: Port Adelaide (2004-12: 140 games, 10 goals). (from the AFL website)

Interesting oversight - hehehehe, he really did burn his bridges didnt he!

Wanga's 2nd missus is due their 3rd kid and his 5th in the new year. He has Tex + 3 girls so far.

Port Adelaide premiership star Wanganeen is set to notch up another offspring, ......., with his wife, Pippa, due to give birth to their third child next year.

Wanganeen has two other children, Mia and Texfrom his previous marriage.“We’re pleasantly surprised ... though it was reasonably planned. I’m just trying to beat Roo,” he laughs. “We’re really excited, Pippa and I, having little ones around the place are great.”

Their new addition will be their third child under the age of three, joining Lulu Allegra, nine months, and Kitty Emerald, aged almost two.

And they got Scarlett, Ablett and Hawkins for picks 45, 40, 41, Max Rooke 41 in the rookie draft.
Three top 10 f/s players for 347, 429 and 412 points. A total of 1188 points. Pick 13 is 1212 points and under this new system any f/s players we get could easily cost that, probably our first and second.

It's not unlike the Hawks priority pick bounty circa 04-05. We win 8.5 games over 2 years and don't even get a top-5 pick either year, let alone two. Top craic.
