PORT ADELAIDE coach Mark Williams says the Power will consider giving up its first two picks- four and 22- in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft if they see someone they like on offer during next week’s exchange period.

A number of big names have already been thrown into the trade mix and the Power, who boast one of the youngest lists in the competition, are poised to pounce.

Towards the end of the season, Williams flagged his interest in luring players from other clubs to Alberton and he maintained that focus hadn’t changed, despite the wealth of talent in this year’s draft pool.

“We’ll talk to the board and the people in charge to see what their view is and we’ll make some choices consistent with the way our club is going,” Williams said on Thursday.

“But there’s no doubt that, come next Monday, we’ll be putting picks four and 22 on the table and we’ll see what comes back as being available.”

Midfielder Adam Thomson, who was selected by the Power at pick 11 back in 2004, has also been linked to potential trade deals with media reports suggesting the 22-year-old would like to pursue an AFL career elsewhere.

“We’ve done end of year reviews on everyone. Some of the guys are still playing in finals and Adam only finished last week,” Williams said.

“He was outstanding in the second final for Sturt- he was best on ground by so far it doesn’t matter and we discussed with Adam where he stands in the group and how his progress is going.

“We also understand that if it’s not best for us and not best for him and it’s a win-win, as far as him moving on is concerned- then that’s a situation that could arise.

“We’ll probably wait until the end of trade week to see exactly what goes on [before making those decisions].”

This year’s NAB AFL Draft appears wide open with AFL National Talent Manager Kevin Sheehan suggesting as many as 32 players could be worthy of top 16 selection.

Impressive tall trio Jack Watts, Nick Naitanui and Tyrone Vickery are expected to feature in the top few picks, as is West Australian midfielder Daniel Rich, but just who will slip through to the Power’s first pick at number four remains unclear.

4+20 for kerr?:)

has anyone heard anything about kerr resigning
seems like its gone quiet :(

haha 4 n 20...

ok seriously, Port dont have pick 20, WC do!!

If we did do the trade for 4 + 22 we get r*ped hard. Kerr is, as already stated thousands of times is worth Ports 4 and another betweeen 10-15 at least.

I'd definitely prefer Kerrto stay but my god this Rich vs Naitanui thing is really doing my head in. I get the feeling we'll draft the wrong one no matter what we do.

Just because you keep saying it doesnt make it true. That is where West Coast want to start the negotiations but I cant think of too many times clubs got their first offer met when it comes to trading.

You have to ask yourself what would you want to get in return for not having a pick til pick 38 in a gun draft.

just to let you guys know.....

m williams is a tough man to negotiate with come trade time.....

i have full confidence he will get the best out of this situation as majority of the time he does.

I don't think Kerr will get traded but if he did, for a deal like this one, the players you'll have in your midfield in 3/4 years time could be close to the star trio you had. Just think:

Masten, Ebert, Scott Selwood, NicNat/Daniel Rich (pick 2), Tyrone Vickery/Jack Ziebell/Steel Sidebottom/Hamish Hartlett (pick 4), then you'd have picks 18, 20 & 22. That's 8 top end picks in 2 years and that's not including guys like Josh Kennedy and Ben McKinley.

That would be scary, especially now it looks like you've got SSB (Sir Scott Burns) as assistant coach, to teach these kids abit about midfield play.

I imagine Melbourne are firmly in the race for Port Adelaide's pick 4. Bailey is very keen on Vickery aswel as Watts.

Names i'd like to see thrown up would be Col Sylvia, Cam Bruce, Daniel Bell with maybe our pick 19 aswel.

Hope Bailey can reach some sort of agreement with his old mate Choco.

If the Eagles are serious about trading Kerr then 4 + 22 isn't a shocking result, basically a Josh Kennedy short of the Judd trade.

If O'Keefe goes to Carlton and the Swans offer 6 + 12 for Kerr that would be an interesting comparison.

Pick #6 (Carlton) = O'keefe
Pick #6 (from Carlton) + Pick #12 + Nick Davis = Kerr

I couldn't agree more except that I don't think Melbourne will trade picks 1,17 or 19 for anyone. Pick 35 is the only one they might trade. I think Melbourne will use the trade period to try and get more picks under 30. Forwards and Midfielders will be the target.

In all honesty, what has Melbourne got that Port would swap for pick 4? And remember, packaging up multiple amounts of shit does not make a trade viable. So no Miller+Dud Ruckmen+Bloke we are delisting anyway offers.

pick 6+12 would be better than 4 + 22
u could probably still get vickery with pick 6 and if not u could use pick 19 or wotever it is on a mckernan/roughead. and end up with rich/harlett/johnstone ands et urselves up for the future
