A bit rough for Lohmann to sub in during a game like that. If the coaches rate him then give him a couple of full games to show what he's got.

They have a great candidate for sub staring them in the face. Zorko. Experienced, skilful and still with a bit of burst about him.

I admire him for keeping going but Lyons isn't it for midfield balance.

Weird weird game. Couldn't play much better in the first and then struggled to win in the contest after that. Could have probably kicked away in the second if we hadn't missed some shots but that shouldn't have been an issue considering our lead.

Lyons was probably our most consistent midfielder with everyone else drifting in and out.

Lyons did as well as he could but he's really not good for our balance.

Can someone explain why we played Lyons tonight? Tunstill’s run and defensive game would have helped tonight once they got on top.

Tonight was his 100th, so father son kicks in.

I figured it was a gimme so he hit the milestone early in the season when we were arrogant.

We took the foot off the pedal and played like a side who aren't worried about Round 0.

Carlton will be a good team this year and had a point to prove.

I don’t think we can win the flag without him. Not writing off top 4 / finals after tonight obviously but he’s a point of difference for us we otherwise don’t have on the list. Without him I’d put us behind a few teams with regards to legitimate flag hopes.

OK. I'm negative Nelly sometimes, but I'm not gong bottom 4. Yet.

We can absolutely finish top 4, win finals etc, but think a premiership is beyond us without Kiddy. Best ball user by a mile, and we lack depth.

A lot rests on McKenna’s dodgy history with soft tissues and motty now.

But here's the rub. Lohman comes on and looks completely out of place. I feel like we keep going back to the old guys because the gap to the younger ones is just too big.

In reality Answorth or Prior or Robertson would have been better options. But we have this weird mix of sentimentality with some players and throw them to the Lions (see what I did there?) with others. I can't really figure it out.

Eh. Being the sub sucks, and I can't blame Lohmann for his lack of impact.

His best (preseason) game was as a half forward/wing position. He gets subbed on for a half back flanker, and he gets rotated in to a position that's basically stuffed up forward in a half where we barely got forward of half way.

If we want the sub to make an impact we need to pick midfielders and play them there. Instead we move them into marginal roles and complain when they can't do anything from it.

Prior or Answerth would be better because that's where the injury was, but unfortunately we don't have knowledge of that beforehand.
