The other side of the argument is a key forward needs the find a way to impact the game even with poor entries. After all, you're not going to have conditions which support crisp ball movement, or opponents that will be willing to be witches hats, week in week out.
He's not a key forward though. He's never been the big guy you can bomb it to.

He's taking up a key forward position and we can't rely on him for stuff like defensive work (or a midfield rotation), so he's judged by key forward metrics.

That said, the same is true of every forward (and every player), the ones you invest in are the ones who find a way to impact the game even if they're getting difficult opportunities to convert.
