Training Pre Season ‘25

We could win a flag in 2 years. It’s not likely but we could rebound quickly and push for a flag with most of our experienced players going around another year. Prestia and McIntosh are probably the only ones almost certain to go after 2025. Nank and Lynch could play on if their bodies hold up.

Our backline is strong, especially if Brown keeps developing, Gibcus gets on the park and Short recaptures his best form with Rioli gone.

Wings are 50/50 but the young ones made big strides in 2024.

Midfield needs continuity and Ross/McAuliffe to develop. Smillie and Lalor have the bodies to contribute from the word go.

Forward line is suspect but much better if Lynch is fit. MRJ or Mansell need to take on Boltons role, or one of the others. We’ll also need at least one or two other talls to contribute, I like Armstrong and when Hotton comes right we may get a shock how good he is.

It might be optimistic but it is no more unrealistic than everyone saying it’s going to be a 400 year rebuild. The 2010 team was a pile of shit, we were just lucky to have the elite players we did. This time around the team is not a pile of shit and we may have just drafted the elite players + the couple we get next year.
There go all my loverly dreams of further draft picks from next year and the year after!

Heard that farkwit mcclure say that it’s a travesty that Dusty didn’t feel comfortable playing on at GC after the poor treatment he received exiting Richmond and some at the club should feel ashamed Take most of his sh!t with a grain of Harold holt but any intel on this?
* thank heck that was his last show…

Well, there's an immediate problem in coming up with an answer to your question.

You're asking for intelligence about something that McClure said.

As much as I would love this, it's not even remotely close to happening. There's optimism and then there's delusion, I think winning a flag in 2 years leans towards the latter.

I mean you can technically say anything could happen, with any team in the league. I really can't believe this needs a debate, we're bottom 4 next year and probably the year after as we build and play all these kids for a tilt down the line.

Apparently these days...medja wannabe types...can say anything they want...and it's accepted as news...
It's a poor state of affairs...
Preaching to the Dumb and Dumber rising tide of the great unwashed...
What does he say to his partner when he gets home from work...lies?!...made up stuff?!...
What does all that sprouted nonsense do to his head, well-being?!

Zackly...it's like trying to make sense of and intellectualize the non-stop garbage that comes out of the carrot-top's mouth...
When all it does is lie and talk like an over grown baby...searching for its next macca's...
All the great minds try to make sense of it all and try to pass it all off as something really, really important...
When really it is embarrassing gauche...

Update from Caesar. Sounds like were being quite conservative in regard to training loads this early.

Does that bloke not work?
Or does he live over the road?
Appriciate his commitment though.

Just ignore it all mate. They are vermin.

Some doozies lately -

Dusty is going to play for GC in 2025 - put your house on it.

Bickley - Tigers won't win a game in 2025. (this hasn't happened since the 60s.)

Forums like this are good to get actual info about what's going on at the club and how things are going.

How many times have they

Kicked to the right pocket from a kick in then Kicked long and high down the wing & have the “opponent” take an uncontested mark

this week?

That's the old game plan.

We're going to the left pocket next year. Fool everyone.

I loved the idea of whoop but the Garmin virtually does the same and is a one off.. I just brought the 965.

But my research suggests Coros is the best. When you take price and functionality into account.
All good, thanks for the info. I've got an Epix, really happy with it. Just wondered if the Whoop would give too much more and it doesn't sound like it.

There’s no doubt Richmond will miss the wizardry and spark that the mercurial Shai Bolton brought to its forward half over the past eight years.
But a Tiger who lit up the track on a sweltering Friday morning at Punt Rd looks ready to step up and fill the sizeable void.
Rhyan Mansell has come back to the Tigers fit as a fiddle, but it was his craft around goal that caught the eye most.
The 24-year-old was putting the Sherrin through the big sticks for fun during match simulation, getting goalside numerous times with nimble footwork.

Mansell played 21 games for 21 goals this year and that output looks set to skyrocket in 2025.
In one passage of play, Mansell flew over his opponent in a marking contest to bring the ball to ground, then landed like a cat before collecting his prize at ground level to slot a major.
Donning his fresh number seven on a training guernsey, Mansell was one of the last Tigers to leave the track as he completed some extra work post the session.
No. 1 draft pick Sam Lalor wasn’t involved in main training as he continues his recovery from a high-grade hamstring injury.
Lalor was on the park but only took part in some light work away from majority of the action.

Josh Smillie was one of the few draftees to take part in the match play, wowing onlookers with a no-look handball in congestion to set his teammate away.
Skipper Toby Nankervis was inside also completing a modified program, allowing other leaders to take charge.
Dion Prestia, the oldest player at the club, was vocal throughout the morning and addressed the main group during a break in training.
Internally the Tigers see Prestia as another coach and his on-field leadership will be vital with so many senior players leaving the club in the off-season.
Noah Balta commanded the backline, flanked by Jacob Koschitzke for periods of match simulation.
Koschitzke was the everywhere man, also spending time up forward and in the ruck.
The former Hawk does seem more likely to start the season in defence as Richmond looks to integrate a number of their key-position draftees into the forward line as well as the returning Tom Lynch.

Samson Ryan took control of ruck duties in the absence of Nankervis and nailed a monster goal on the run from a stoppage, with the ball carrying all of 80 metres.
The Tigers suffered a disastrous season on the injury front this year, but things are looking promising heading into 2025.
Mykelti Lefau, Josh Gibcus, Tylar Young and Judson Clarke are the only players currently ruled out of round 1 as they recover from their respective ACL injuries.
Tom Brown is set to re-join main training after Christmas following shoulder surgery that ended his 2024 campaign early.
Draftee Tom Sims spent his first week at Tigerland ill, but is now out on the track.

PLAYERS WHO IMPRESSED

Kamdyn McIntosh
Richmond waited to give Kamdyn McIntosh a list spot until after the trade period, but the veteran looks to have taken that in his stride this pre-season. The 30-year-old finished second in the 2km time trial at the end of last month and his running power was on show again on Friday. McIntosh continually found space in match play by using sheer work rate and his bullet passes hit up his teammates with precision. Should be able to play the 10 matches he needs to bring up a deserved 200-game milestone for the club.

Tom Lynch
A full pre-season is set to help Tom Lynch get out on the field and stay there in 2025. Lynch has had a heavily interrupted last two years at Richmond, playing just eight games out of a possible 46. The Tigers are pleased with his current condition and the dual premiership player was able to partake in some contact drills where he confidently stood up to dish off a handpass while being tackled. It’s vital that Lynch plays senior football this year to show the way in the Tigers’ young forward line.

Seth Campbell
The teenager looks set to create plenty of problems for defenders alongside Mansell in the front half for Richmond next year. Campbell is looking super fit, using his pace to explode away from those willing to try and keep up with him. His creativity around goal was also on show, slotting a goal from the pocket off one step during match simulation.

Heard the same thing live...like what the actual? Weird comment, maybe just chucking it out there because he got it so wrong and copped plenty of flak for it.
The "feel ashamed" part was particularly nasty.

The big difference is the journal. Which asks a lot of questions and really pushes you to complete each day. So for a professional athlete it would be a big help. Reality is they al carry journals these days anyway. My daughter is required and she’s only u14.

(Hilariously the whoop journal also asks about mastebation and sexual activity. I was a bit reluctant to add that given sometimes the activity may not be with the missus )

I think I prefer mclure over whos got the gig for next year - farrken half wit jimny bartel

yeah and the 1847 locomotive is faster than that midfield

Speed of foot isn’t that important. Speed of hand, good decisions and agility are what matters. Lions have Neale, Ashcroft and Dunkley… then even Berry isn’t quick.

Hawks dynasty had the super slow group of Lewis, Mitchell, Sewell, Hodge and Shiels rotating as mids.

Geelong’s dynasty had Selwood, Corey, Kelly, Bartel, Ling and GAJ … only GAJ had anything resembling leg speed.

Half forwards with speed is vital … midfielders with speed, history tells us it’s not that important.
