Also I was planning on going today but a mixture of laziness/going to bed late/hearing the rain when my alarm went put me off. Here's hoping next week doesn't throw such a horrible combination of events.

What a tough life you have... :p

Had been told and confirmed today that all spots are up for grabs.

Nothing new really but coming from Mick, it may just carry a little more weight now.

Is this from an interview or a private source?

If we had to pick a preseason best 22 based on performance and standing (obv Yaz/Tex/Gibbs safe and Judd). Perhaps something like:

Bucks - Jamo - Tuohy
Doc - Rowe - Simmo
Daisy - Gibbs - Yaz
Walker - Hendo - Menz
Tutt - Jones - Cas
Kreuz - Murph - Judd
Everitt - Curnow - Cripps - Graham

Not far off a R1 likely team either.

Private.

Again there's hardly anything earth shattering in it, although which is why I've been suggesting to expect the unexpected.
We have many fighters that will be fighting hard for spots in the senior team. Many of those 19 and 20 y.o.s are hungry now.

That's pretty much been Micks go anyway, as he's always championed the idea that anyone on your list is as entitled as another, to senior games.
Do it Micks way and your closer to the big league.

Thanks for sharing HARKER - reckon the likes of Whiley and Cripps will be really looking to push and keep Carrotts out of the team in 2015. Competition can only be good - rather 10 guys playing well in the 2nds pushing for a senior berth than none at all. Luck with injuries helps of course...

I have no real reason to say this but I wouldn't be surprised should Sheehan usurp Tuohy.
Zac didn't have a great year last year and his fitness base hasn't seemed to be top notch either.

I have heard that Jaksch isn't particularly liking the hard work either............maybe no-one is but best kept to oneself, I would have thought.
Most of the other guys are going hell for leather so you never know who may front up and when.

while watching the "world of sport" in studio bike races with the massive clock/timer behind them.

who remembers that ?
curlier than a catoggio pube
always loved watching the wood chop.
Can't forget the handball comp, with Lou Bobby and Jack fumbling the balls back to the players.

Reckon Jaksch will play a few games in 2015 as he builds his strength/bulk and learns from Jamo down back. Sheehan is one I can definitely see ending the year undisputedly in our best 22. It does seem he's in direct competition for Tuohy's spot but at his best Tuohy was awesome. Would love to see Bucks, 2e and Gus in the same side but not sure they can all be fit in unless one plays the outside runner (could Sheehan?).

I think Bucks is more the outside runner of the 3. Gus has the potential to be a burst mid too.

I see the Irish boys as a real bonus on top of our standard recruiting - Sheehan is solidly built and with his maturity I expected (okay, largely hoped!) he would come on last year - he did in the end and showed enough for me to think he might one day play 100 games if he can keep the improvement going. Tuohy kept his place in the side last year but will have to do more this year - word was he was carrying an injury last year and certainly didn't look as explosive as he sometimes did in 2013 - hopefully he goes up a gear this year and plays his role for Mick but also adds the offensive dash again and every now and then kicks a running goal from 55-60m! Can Byrne do this year what Sheehan did last year?

My feeling with Jaksch is that he might get a run towards the end of the year - agree with most others that he needs to build strength and muscle this year - we have other more mature tall options for now.

Northern Blues would have to be big improvers this year don't you think?

Wouldn't surprise me in the least but another year learning the game won't exactly hurt either.

Players Byrne, Boekhorst, DVR, Smith and possibly Walsh may have reasons for thinking it possible to play a game or two this year.

Yep you'd have to think so! Gained a few non-AFL recruits, too from memory.

I can see Walsh really pushing for seniors pretty much straight away. Could truly prove to be one of the steals of the whole draft of 2014 - dare I say it Rockliff-style...

Looks like our #2 and #3 bananas bonding - even though they'll play a different role, I can see some nice healthy competition from them in 2015 - if Liam can come in and make a positive, immediate impact on the field - it may make Levi up his game and get closer to his potential.

Whilst the quality of our tall group as a whole may not inspire the same level of excitement as others, I'm personally buoyed by the guys we have and really optimistic about their 2015 chances (providing all 3 can stay fit and play 16+ games together). I'd say we need these two and Lachie to kick 100G between them as a minimum to really fire... which I can totally see happening in an ideal world. But from a realist p.o.v. a lot will have to go right for this to happen.

Lachie to kick 50 goals
Liam to kick 30
Cas to kick 20

Not that hard at all really. Get 1AW and Menz to kick in 30 each and all of a sudden we've got the makings of a very dangerous forward line.

How's Whitey doing in the off season? Reckon we will continue to see a fair bit of him.

All I could tell from the walking handball drill is that he and jaksch have very big feet.
