Townsend's improved form (with all of the qualifications I mentioned above) is this year. You know, 10 years ago or so jack was not our no. 1 forward. One year he wasn't; then over the next year he became our no. 1 forward. Same for Rance some years ago. OK, Townsend will never be no. 1 in any position, but that is not to say that he can't move up the internal rankings throughout this year (gee I wanted to put 'this year' in caps).

Nah, I don't think it is a lock-in loss. Crows are probably going in younger and by the sounds of it, we are going close to full-strength.

I hope we play full strength. The other two games we should be managing minutes and players as Etihad has the best playing surface.

Yes, I wanted this too. Funnily enough, I mentioned last week that I wanted Richmond to be full-strength in this game with the exception of Rance out against Adelaide and I guess they are giving us this now. I don't know, I guess I am just intrigued at how we fare against the best offence in the competition without our best defender to see if anyone else is willing to stand up.

I'll be honest, my mind does wander a bit whenever the club mentions things alluding to a player's "discomfort" or "niggles". It is better to take Balme's words, but I end up anticipating something bad whenever I hear things like this given past occurrences. I hope he is fine though and what Balme said is spot on.

look, the best thing here is that its tendonitis.
that is a self-limiting injury, the more he tries to do the more it will hurt to keep it very simple (i had a form of tendonitis in my knees at one stage due to an imbalance in my muscle strength)
if he rests up, does what the physios say he'll be 100% fine with 0 long term repercussions

Yeah, I reckon we could still beat Carlton comfortably without Rance. But I think he will play.
