Anyone know the best/easiest place to park? I don’t mind a short walk.

Saturday arvo there'll be plenty of options in surrounding streets. Don't need to look for anywhere special.

Looks like this will be the last chance to settle some final selections for round 1, with four players to come out of this squad (assuming no injuries and Corr et al need at least one week in the VFL). I think it’s one to go out from each of the following:
Xerri v CCJ
Bergman v Perez v Bonar (I can’t see Ziebell going out with Corr absent)
Greenwood v Powell
Sleevo v Turner v Powell v Shiels (but I can’t see Shiels dropped for round 1)

From that I’d drop xerri, Bergman, greenwood and shiels

But would obviously drop Scott before any of them

I reckon Bonar is Corr’s direct replacement right now on match sim evidence.

Clarko’s not taking Old Yella out the back just yet. That’s ok.

Will he go a ruck who can’t forward or a forward who can’t ruck? Or neither and have Comben ruck 5 mins a qtr?

Radio Bergman has come out of nowhere to a degree. Might still be behind 🐐 and Perez.

The most exciting thing about the season is to see what Clarko is cooking.

We must remember that, after JHF, Bergman was the first guy from last year’s draft to break into the firsts. It didn’t end well, we all know. However, it has to stand him in good stead. He continues to fly under the radar.

Well, I guess this is the mythical ‘competition for spots’ that I’ve heard exists in teams that don’t suck. I vaguely recall seeing it 1/4 century ago or thereabouts. Now in at least one of these options there’s an element of shitmen, but moreso it’s young players whose potential is yet to be known (e.g. Bergmen > Shitmen). I reckon today’s game will have a big say in the final squad for round 1. Would be great to see one or two of these fringe players put their hand up.

I suspect Clarko will rate Greenwood much higher than some here seem to believe.

I would be genuinely surprised if he isn't in the round 1 team.

Clarko's system at the Hawks was so good it meant that he could select shorter players in key defensive posts. Back 6 in the 2013 GF was:
Stratton (189cm)
Birchall (193cm)
Gibson (189cm)
Guerra (182cm)
Lake (195cm)
Burgoyne (186cm)

Apart from Lake it's a lot of tweeners who can all hurt you the other way if they can bring the ball to ground. My hunch is players like Goater/Perez/Ziebs/Bonar/Young etc will all be expected to play tall at times and if it breaks down its a system breakdown.

Tough match. I suspect we will get the jump on them early, hold a decent lead heading into the 3rd, then struggle to maintain that lead for the second half.

Hope we win, but my magic 8ball said 'Better not tell you now' :O
