8 of our boys spotted at an oval in Hampton training very hard this week , including Blakey , MacLean and Papley
Nice to hear that they're in a big group. I know Amartey hangs with Blakey a fair bit so hopefully he's getting stuck in as well as one of the blokes that needs to have a big preseason this summer.

A few other things to note from recent content...

McAndrew was in the background of a training photo looking like he was participating, which is good if it means he's back training.

And Magor was doing skill exercises with the defensive group in the Inside Sydney video, which could be a nod to where they see him fitting.

Could you elaborate on this please? I have been to watch a couple of training sessions in person and as far as I could tell they haven't yet been divided into forward/defensive/mid groups yet. There were some divisions but it was tricky to figure out how they were divided. From memory there were a bunch of mids running and doing exercises while forwards (and backs) were doing different drills at one point. And there maybe has been some differentiation with talls/rucks at certain times. But I haven't yet discerned any forward or mid groups.

Incidentally, Jayden is one of the players I'm most keen to have a yarn with if I get a chance (haven't had that chance yet this season). If I get to talk to him, I will ask him about the role he anticipates playing going forward and share his answer if it's appropriate to do so.

Very impressive from Heeney. Jordon has also significantly improved since last month. Cleary couldn't repeat his second place finish. Suspect Foxy didn't participate if he wasn't in the top 5 (and there seemed to be a fair gap back to 6th).

The Heeney jump is huge, bodes well for this season.

I'm surprised that the leader board changed so much from one time trial to the next. It seems like this is the more meaningful result because this latest one seems to have been the quicker one, based on their being 16 PBs.

Overall, the thing that I'm excited about this year is that I feel like our squad is genuinely blessed with depth. Sure we might be missing one or two superstar KPPs. But the upside is that I feel like we can cover an injury to anyone, even Grundy (I'm bullish about the ability of Ladhams or even McAndrews or the ruck-forwards to do a serviceable job.) In fact the lack of superstars makes the KPPs easier to replace. We may have our weakest key defence for a while but we have plenty of depth and so, with the competition for spots and the wealth of options, I think we'll do alright.

Happy with the off season that addressed our depth issues. Its also going to make our VFL team a must watch this year.

The thing about our key forwards, they all have footy smarts. All have the ability to make the good lead. They push up, back & sideways then push their opponents away getting space. All have the ability to give quick delivery from a pack or contested position under pressure. McLean's smarts to be able to clear the ball out of congestion is gold. They are gold. The Forwards Coach has a lot to work with
