Very quick off the mark Ticky. I just found this vid (your last post with Dean Cox) and came here to share the link and you had beaten me to it.

It's brilliant! Most insightful explanation of training drills and what the coaches are trying to achieve I've ever heard from a Sydney coach. I'm not saying they don't all have this ability - it's more a comment on how rarely they share it with us. I'm really grateful for this video and I'm going to rewatch it. Please please please more of this type of content.

Actually I'm looking at the last decade of midfields winning flags with bang average rucks who don't give them much clean ball from a tap.
Question from nothing: Did the side on GF day with the better ruck win? Or did the team that won have the better ruckman on the day?

Future senior coach written all over him, desperately hope it's with us. I'm a big Longmire supporter, but when the time comes for him to stand down, I hope the succession plan with big Cox is firmly in place.
I've noticed that the media is concentrating more on Cox this preseason than Longmire, which makes me think that they are into the next stage of grooming him for the big role.

Indeed.

It took me a long time to get over the “Cox was part of the West Coast drugs era” concern - but I’m there now.
He was always one of the (few) good guys during that era anyway, wasn't he?

My bigger concern is that he's been our midfield coach so is he actually any good tactically. Sure seems to have a bit of presence about him which is a good foundation.

There’s no real way to know who was good / not good during the drugs era.
And I’m sure some have matured over the years.

But the place had a rotten culture.

Kerr, Chick, Gardiner, Cousins etc …. it ain’t great.

One thing I can say with certainty - David Wirrpanda is a lovely bloke. So there was at least the odd good guy among them.

But I still hate the Eagles. Worst crowd & worst club in the AFL.

Western Bulldogs say hi

There's a bit of competition!

Nup, the Bravedogs can’t help being the darlings of the AFL and their employees in yellow.

The only club that comes anywhere near the Weagles for rotten culture is Essendon.

But the Weagles win the “worst all-round club” award, on account of their moronic abusive fan base.

And to bring things back on topic (for bedford) …. according to the WA press, Harley Reid is training not only the house, but the entire city down.

Poor bloke. Expect at JHF style exit in 2026.

Sorry, but nothing tops a pissed off essendon supporter who poured his beer over a 14yo girls head as she was singing the swans club song after a win. ****ing scumbags

Had the pleasure of drunken West Coast idiots sitting a few rows back throwing beer over my kids at Optus.

Trust me, the West Coast crowd at Optus has no peer for disgraceful behaviour.

Remember, this is the heavily tattooed, bourbon and coke fuelled moronic bogan mob that booed Adam Goodes out of the AFL.

Freo games are a completely different atmosphere.

Attended a final at Freo a few years back. No dramas at all. Never been to a WCE home game.

Or for them to do what they did in that clip^, which is a lot of what they did last year. It's the ruck's job to get the ball to the mids but the mids still have to do something with it.
If a given player is only going to do something with it once out of every 5 times they get it then getting it to them 10 times rather than 5 is a 100% output improvement. I think you're just trying to sound smart and iconoclastic on this one rather than thinking about it.

In my experience, Crows fans are right up there too.

Then you thought wrong.

This clip further reinforces why I just can't get excited about the addition of Grundy, or ruckmen in general.

You won't see better ruck craft than what Grundy showed just there and it goes to Parker who burns Gulden to instead try and sidestep a tackle and gets caught.

Not blaming Parker there as I reckon any of our mids could've, and have, done that. But having a quality ruck won't make one iota of difference if our mids don't get smarter and better at their craft as well.

Me when I base my hopes for the season on one isolated video from training.
