Agree. Would add C. Ellis as another who might be able to make inroads. Conca too if he can stay fit and finally catch a break with some good health.
Menadue the one with the most upside of those fringe players I reckon. Just needs to get a bit stronger and build his confidence and I see him being amoung the first picked in the next 12-24 months.

Would like to see Kayle Kirby kick on at Collingwood. Got unbelievable goal sense from what I saw when he played a few VFL games with Richmond. Looks like fitness will be his biggest challenge.

For us it would be Callum Moore, Sam Lloyd and Connor Menadue as my candidates.

Some people may be forgetting how good Sam Lloyd was for us in 2016, having kicked 35 goals in a year when we were bad (ranked 2nd only behind Riewoldt). He is one of those natural footballers with a great goal nous and a sense of occasion. He was also starting showing some excellent signs at the back end of the 2017 VFL season (much like Dan Butler was at the end of 2016 before entering the senior side in 2017), so I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps back into our best 22. Could have just had a down year last year.

Menadue's pace is explosive, so he'd be one to keep an eye out for.
Moore is quite the athletic forward (standing at 193 or 194 cm) and would fit in well with our style of play.

For Freo, Liam Ryan, Griffin Logue and Brennan Cox to play the lion’s share of the season at a high level.

Sean Darcy to further consolidate - despite Sandi being first picked.

Fringe demons:
Harmes - fit, strong but not sure he's got the tricks. Handy depth but I'm not expecting a big leap. Would like to see him play back or in the centre.

I'd prefer to see him at Casey but I will hunt Goodwin down and butcher him in cold blood if he puts that ball butcher Harmes anywhere near the back line, his skills and decision making are horrible.

Clarke is pretty much starting 22 now.

The DT/SC types would be wise to keep him safe in 2018.;)

This is basically my mid range watchlist for SC. I’ve not included and 1st players except LDU who I rate as a certain starter and influential player due to his work ethic and composure.

2018 is all about Chopper Lovell !!

According to the OP that's OK tho. Can include those types who are the last 6 or so picked in the 22 or in and out and who can be on as much as $400K PA.

With that being the case Acres for us probably fits the bill and could really break out this year (although not as likely if he keeps playing mostly forward).
