AFL 2023: Predicted results for the first six rounds

The first six rounds can set up or kill your season, and the AFL fixture has handed seven teams a big mountain to climb. See our tips for every match.

ADELAIDE FIRST SIX

R1: GWS @ Giants Stadium (L)
R2: Richmond @ Adelaide Oval (L)
R3: Port Adelaide @ Adelaide Oval (L)
R4: Fremantle @ Adelaide Oval (W)
R5: Carlton @ Adelaide Oval (W)
R6: Hawthorn @ UTAS Stadium (L)
Tally: 2-4

I think we will beat the Giants and Hawthorn but potentially lose to Carlton and Freo. Either way it's actually a good draw with really only the Richmond game looking like a definite loss. Even with that game being at home I'd give us a chance.

We would want to be 3-3 after six games I think. Will be a tough year otherwise .

How come the filth can start selling tickets to their games but our games aren’t on sale yet?
Because they have lots available and are worried about cashflow

Embarrassing that they basically have the AFL spruiking for them for people to buy tickets

Yep, when he’s missed games he’s come back for and strong. Also gets the team used to playing without him.

Good call by the coaches
Should be considering this approach for all players who would benefit from breaks to freshen up.

Smith would be another... but also younger players too who are not AFL hardened.

We also can use the sub too for this purpose.

We'll say that we'll rest Tex now

Will we do it when the season is underway and there's pressure to get a win?

We're the politician on the election trail now, promising the earth. Tex will rest, Pedlar will play...
Yep.. I’ll believe it when I see it..

And the “tex is still coming around to the idea” line isnt exactly confidence inducing.. so he hasnt agreed to it yet at all!

So when Tex is still kicking his usual two to three goals a week and they ask him “how are you feeling?” and he says “perfectly fine”… are they gonna rest him?.

They should force him to rest for the games on the ovals that are notoriously harder on the body.. perth and docklands..

You try telling Tex he’s not playing

Don't think they would announce it if they weren't intending to go through with it.

But yeah, seeing is believing.

we've got a great record against Richmond at home, even in our poor years

freo we struggle with

yep he won't have any perth trips

maybe he will miss another longer haul game too

So with the announcement of the AFLW coaching structure they've announced Jack Hombsch has moved over to being a development coach for the men's team.

We have started the last two years at 3-3 and then fell in a massive heap.

I wouldn't say that the Tigers are a definite loss. We are 5-1 against them in our last 6 encounters at Adelaide Oval.

Four of our first 6 are at home. We should be aiming for a 4-2 start imo.

Always a chance at home but I think if you are putting your house on us or Richmond I'd go with them.

I agree 4-2 is what we need given the favourable draw but don't think we will get there. The GWS game is a big one. I think they could slide below us on the ladder in 23 so we need to beat them.
