Big, clunky and a horrible turning circle?Warmups currently.
Simpson moving like a Rolls Royce.
Who played more inside midfield minutes, Erasmus or Johnson? To balance out some of my negativity I’m happy to take questions on individual players’ performances today.
No current season stats available
Ras far more inside time then MJ, latter was mostly on the wingWho played more inside midfield minutes, Erasmus or Johnson?
Where were their secondary positions?
O'Driscoll show much improvement?
Thank you in advance kind stranger
Good material. My kingdom for a paragraph.More from our FB friend Desmond Baccini -
“Just got back from a full three hour training session (Saturday 9.00am to 12 midday). A small group of regulars were in attendance along with a small media contingent. The weather was a bit kinder, heatwise that is. The first hour or so consisted of drills before the full on long match sim commenced. The first half of the sim included some slick fast ball movement. Standouts during the session included, Young, Erasmus, Serong, Brayshaw, Chapman, Johnson, Taberner, Voss, Jackson. The wing positions still seem to be a work in progress especially after this mornings session. Chapman started back today along with Oscar Mcdonald. The injury to Cox may have changed the coaches plans especially with the thought of Chapman being pushed up the ground to one of the wings. O'Driscoll, Stanley, Sharp, seem to be fighting for wing spots but none were prominent today. Sharp can run all day but today he turned the ball over on at least 4 occasions when not under pressure. In a game it may cost us goals. He could've just had an off day, after all no can be perfect all the time, but seeing the wing position is still in flux ( up for grabs) this is the wrong time to be doing this. Interesting in the last quarter the coaching staff shifted Chappy to him on the wing. I must say Erasmus was pure class today along with the Prince of Class, Mr Young. Reckon after today, Young is now a bona-fide midfielder. Some of the midfield clearances that he did were like magic. He was there all day in the centre and had nothing to do with the defensive group. Must mention Luke Ryan also. The guy is unstoppable, reliable and like a rock in defence. He really stood out especially in the second half. Walters and Fyfe our experienced champs, really dug in during this 3 hours session. Walters was very vocal along with young Josh Treacy at times. They were revving up the group and reiterating about the team structure and keeping the shape during the sim.During the second half of the sim JL stepped onto the ground , blew his whistle and told everyone to stop where they stood. He then started to single out players who were maybe out of position and seemed to be asking them for an eplanation. Quite interesting to see the friendly banter (albeit constructive) between him and the players. Alex Pearce again looked strong and fit back in defensive zone. Sean Darcy is still working up to match fitness. He started with the rehab group however made an appearance later in the match sim. O'Meara made no appearance at all today. Walker had no strapping on his knee and is looking on the improve. Switta played also but to me is not 100% as yet. The 2 add on spots are soon or rather have to be decided if the club wants to. Voss today booted at least 4 goals and must be in contention. Was an interesting session this morning. It was a long hitout. The first half of the session was definitely better than the first. There was unusual amount of chatter, and loud feedback being given amongst some players, nothing derogatory, but rather honest appraisal. Reckon the players are starting to feel that the season is getting really close now, and with spots up for grabs, the tension and intensity is rising. Cheers and Go Dockers..”
My draft buddy has a long way to go but would love for him to debut this year after learning from Graham, Walters and the other forwards. Very raw it seems but also very early days. Thanks for the posts from you legends who attend training and then make the effort to post what you seeDelean being constantly coached on his positioning. He’s nowhere near ready to play
Ras far more inside time then MJ, latter was mostly on the wing
Thought NOD is moving well but his kicking just letting him down regularly. Had one kick that was absolutely pin point off half back but to someone from the other team
No worries at all! And just on Delean, he did kick a superb crumbing goal in the forward pocket. He’s got no shortage of talent, just needs time to learn the structures.Mr draft buddy has a long way to go but would love for him to debut this year after learning from Graham, Walters and the other forwards. Thanks for the post,it is a concern if skills continue to be poor with miss kicks etcSome quick thoughts
Much better than last week, barring the last couple of 10 mins, skills were a lot better, lucky we didn't do that full ground drill this week to really show off the poor skills, skills still not at H&A levels but still was an improvement, good intensity too, had quite a few more B22 players playing this week which helps
Best I've seen Erasmus, didn't do any of his stupid getting caught or dumb brain fades today, won the ball in the contest and got it out by hands or kicked it long (admittedly he just blazes away with shanked kicks, end over end etc but it was still a net positive)
Taberner was the best forward on the ground, kicked 4 or 5 overall, think our forward lines haven't looked great the past 2 weeks but the forwards seem the most even spread over the two teams, might look better if we matchup our proper forward line all in one (Tabs, Amiss, Dogga, Swit, Emmett, Sonny) Tabs also the most vocal forward, demands his team to be in position.
Johnson was by far the best winger today, then moved into the midfield, Noddy was second best but his kicking was bad, Sharp up next but missed too many kicks today, Stanley last as he was barely sighted (Mz and Grey also played wing and did more than Stanley tbh)
Mckenzie still runs weird in rehab, came on latish and kicked a goal, not sure if he played much more than that as I don't recall him doing much else
Delean has copped a beating the last two weeks, just seemingly out of zone every chance, needs time.
Murphy did a couple nice things
Purple absolutely dominated the 20 min "quarter" that was played, Sebba and Ras were beasting it in that time
Might have more to say if it pops back in later
Thanks for the intel, seems likely Johnson will start on a wing and rotate into to middle. Some quick thoughts

Interestingly, Graham was telling Delean as the deepest forward to always stay in line between the ball’s current position and the goal line.
Amiss should stay around the 50mGawd call me old fashioned but reading this gives me the irrits. How many times last year was Walters the deepest forward, and we saw the ball kicked long to the shortest guy on the ground, with predictable results?
Keep a tall forward deep FFS. Looks like the guy in front of me at Optus is going to be telling me to stop swearing again this year
Serong, Young Erasmus (Purple) vs Fyfe Bray and Wiz (white)Thanks for the intel, seems likely Johnson will start on a wing and rotate into to middle.
In that 20 min session what were the midfields? You mentioned Serong and Erasmus were purple, who else was with them and who was white?
TBH today was just pre season skills, it was fineThat wind today was extremely strong and may have contributed to the poor skills.
?
It was only for brief periods though. I left not long after half time but Amiss or Treacy were generally deepest forward for white.Gawd call me old fashioned but reading this gives me the irrits. I could be wrong but pretty sure Fyfe, Brodie and Brayshaw were white, and Young was the other purple. I only watched the first 10 mins of that 20 minute period and Serong was on another level at the stoppages before I left. Thanks for the intel, seems likely Johnson will start on a wing and rotate into to middle.

Ras definitely had the better of the two today. Was involved in most strings of possessions out of the guts and really played the inside game you’d expect someone with his inside pedigree to play. But the difference today was that he played with a bit more confidence and that made him more dangerous IMO. Johno was less prominent for mine. What he did do was pretty classy, but he didn’t win it as much. He’s pretty hard to tackle as far as I can see, so he naturally assumes he has time, which I think will make him pretty formidable as a mid once he also adds a bit more attacking flair to his game.Erasmus vs johnson? Who had the better game inside. Curious about Brodie as well and if Erasmus spent any time forward. Thanks
See above on Johno v Ras. But Ras appeared to play more minutes. Couldn’t say on secondary positions, but they both patrolled the square and the wings capably.Who played more inside midfield minutes, Erasmus or Johnson?
Where were their secondary positions?

Treacy was pretty strong and vocal in the first few stanzas. He gave some good leads around half forward and took a decent clunk in one play. At one stage he bulleted a pass into Jye that was too fierce and bounced off his chest, so if he is going to play that half forward role he may need to work on delivery i50. Otherwise I think the fact he wasn’t backup ruck meant he wasn’t as involved around the ground as usual. Thanks to those providing the info.
How did Treacy perform today? With Voss & Tabs having prominent games there is a risk for Treacy that he drops back in the queue. It is great to have some competition in the tall forward department despite none of them being superstars, there appears to be some options & blokes pushing each other.
