Think it was Williams and not Draper. From the FFC website:

Time Trial 1:
1. Karl Worner
2. Michael Frederick
3. Neil Erasmus
4. Conrad Williams
5. Matt Johnson

Time Trial 2:
1. Michael Frederick
2. Karl Worner
3. Neil Erasmus
4. Conrad Williams
5. Matt Johnson

Time Trial 3:
1. Nathan O’Driscoll
2. Michael Frederick
3. Neil Erasmus
4. Karl Worner
5. Matt Johnson
That is massive improvement from Conrad Williams compared to a year ago.

Anyone know if Brodie showed up? As the other poster said, if he didn't his chances don't look that great.

Brodie is not a 1-4, he will be in his 8th year this season

He also played back at Peel for the GF, he wasn't required back this week
The point is you can see who is driven/has the winning mentality by who shows up early. Unless he is traveling/got family or whatever I am disappointed he isn't there. He has all the tools to succeed but he won't unless he works his ass off. It's a shame because a fit and firing Brodie would do wonders for our finals push.

I worked for someone who wanted me to turn up and start work early because someone else did. I could never understand why they didn't think being there for 8 hours each day wasn't enough. I certainly tried to do a good job when I was there.

To be fair, elite sportspeople are different and not a great comparison to a routine job elsewhere in the economy.
For AFL players success = winning premierships and only one team can do that each year out of 18.
It’s not like that in a normal job where more than 1/18th of the workforce can achieve success in a normal year.
Each team has to go above and beyond to uncover every stone and look for every little inch to get an advantage over their competitors.
Just 23 players out of 800 can taste ultimate success in a given year. It’s a high bar to reach.

Please this absolutely the worst, the pits, opinion. Sure a few guys might be turning up 'early' for pre season but all of them are doubtlessly ones that didn't have to play 3 extra weeks of WAFL finals.

Even if they haven't this is what they entitled to and noone should be judged for taking what is theirs.

Ok then they should train non stop to try and get an edge. Sometimes enough just needs to be enough. A balance between doing what you can to succeed and having the necessary mental and physical respite to have enough in the tank to perform at your best. I do wonder if the large number if full match sims we did last year made some of the players feel they had already played a season before it had already started.

He might be doing his own program. You have no idea. Also, rest is just as essential as putting in the work.

Spot on, not one of the 5+years players who turned up early to support the youngsters played a single Peel final, Walters, Banfield, Cox all started their breaks at the end of round 24. With Hamling, Wilson and Colyer all gone from the list, I can’t even name another 5+ year player who did play peel finals?

Not saying that at all. I’m kinda ambivalent about who shows up to pre season early or not.
I’m more interested in whether every player is striving to get the absolute best out of themselves as an AFL footballer, every day, in every single way. Almost certainly the answer to that is no (for every team) and while none of us can prove our points either way, because we are not intimately involved at the club, I would certainly feel there’s a few guys just coasting along and somewhat going though the motions. That’s human nature. Not everyone is going to be as driven to succeed as Fyfe or Serong or those type of characters but it’s also no coincidence they will have 15 plus year careers in the game while most of these other fringe guys we speak about are long since come and gone.
