Living in Melbourne this is the sort of cr@p I have to put up with every day. Just reading the Herald Sun and there “experts” ranked us as having the 16th best forward line this year. Even them having West Coast at 18th (with the likes of Allan, Darling, Cripps, Ryan, Waterman) is harsh. I’m looking forward to what they all say when we beat Brisbane (#1 forward line, 3rd best midfield)

The WC one is honestly much worse. Their forwardline is fine to good, it just doesnt get in there and their backs are often cooked. 18th is a joke

I think it’s better than Hawthorn, Melbourne, Essendon and Richmond all who were ahead of us. Just before people jump down my throat, who does Melb have apart from Fritsch (who was injured most of last year), A discarded Brown, an injured and not very good McDonald inconsistent small forward Kossy,

Williams is not complete dogshit and will probably make a decent - at the very worst, highly competitive - forward/ruck. Best part about Williams' performance us last year was the interview with Dogga after the game, when asked about the matchup and he gives the full "Yeah nah, it was a great contest. He [Williams] is a great young ruckman..." - who is older than you, Dogga.

You could well be right, just saying that our forwards have a lot to prove to earn respect.

We probably rate players on where we project they will be, but rate other teams based on production (mostly, sometimes you can see a player will be a superstar before they deliver it).

Do we know the length of Saturdays scratchy?

Last year we played like 7 periods v the Crows but it was all on Kayo

Eagles played 6 against the power but the last 2 weren't televised, I was at the game (brother supports Port) so I got to see it all, bit worried they'll cut it after 4 (if it even is longer than 4)

We hosted the Crows and Eagles hosted Port (so Eagles may cut it again) unfortunately we can't get tix to this one, not as simple as last year to be able to watch (again, assuming 6 or 7 periods)

LOL they didn't really put WC last did they? Even the most one-eyed Freo fan wouldn't go that far...

The match sim squads for tomorrow’s games have been listed. For Sydney they have listed the notable absentees with a special mention to Hamling being a notable absentee. Has he progressed from WAFL to leading KPD all of a sudden.

AFL.com have a very loose definition of notable absenteeism. I would have thought regular player in 2023 or a champion of the game like Fyfe would make notable absentee list not a bloke who churned out two seasons in the WAFL.

If Sharp and McDonald didn’t make our squad (I reckon they will) they shouldn’t make the list of notable absentees.

With the injuries at the hawks I would have them a lock for bottom 2. North don't have the senior talent WC do. I think WC will finish in the 14-16th range. A touch higher if the senior players can stay on the park. Which given recent history is a big if!

This looks great:
Having had a good read, quite frankly, I'm blown away.
Lots to say but the stand outs:
Firstly, it doesn't sound like a puff piece.
Great to see such unity and professionalism.
Great to get an insight into how JLo operates.
The think that gave gave it all so much cred were the reports from last friday's match sim watchers about the hardness and the intensity. It was great to read about the team build up that created that, they matched perfectly.
We have great reasons to be excited about 2024 - let's F*n Gooooooooooooooooooooooo.

That’s probably the most insightful piece I’ve ever read, thanks for posting!
So many takeaways from that but the one that got me most excited was the increased sprint work and gym results they’ve achieved this year.
Amazing article though, the author must have had incredible access to all parts of the club to write something like this

Schmook is very good - it's great to have him in WA.
