Thank you 76woodenspooners

One of BigFooty’s all-time-favourite posters, Reykjavik , was all across the board level stuff. He once posted a list of the responsibilities of a Not-For-Profit board like that of Collingwood …

abcdef.....ijklmnop

NFP board responsibilities
Specific responsibilities of a not-for-profit (NFP) board include:

  • Driving the strategic direction of the organisation
  • Working with the CEO to enable the organisation to obtain the resources, funds and personnel necessary to implement the organisation's strategic objectives
  • Implementing, maintaining and (as necessary) refining a system of good governance that is appropriate for the organisation
  • Reviewing reports and monitoring the performance of the organisation
  • Regularly reviewing the board's structure and composition, so that these are appropriate for the organisation
  • Appointing – and managing the performance of – a suitable CEO
  • Succession planning for the CEO
While the above points are also applicable to for-profit boards, NFP boards also face a unique range of issues, such as:

  • Difficulties in defining and measuring organisational effectiveness
  • Transgression of role boundaries
  • The negative impact of the structural compositions of some NFP boards, including those arising from representative models
  • Funding dependencies and constraints

In practice, the role of the board is to supervise an organisation's business in two broad areas:

  1. Overall business performance - ensuring the organisation develops and implements strategies and supporting policies to enable it to fulfill the objectives set out in the organisation's constitution. The board delegates the day to day management of the organisation but remains accountable to the shareholders for the organisation's performance. The board monitors and supports management in an on-going way.
  2. Overall compliance performance - ensuring the organisation develops and implements systems to enable it to comply with its legal and policy obligations (complying with statutes such as the Corporations Act 2001, adhering to accounting standards) and ensure the organisation's assets are protected through appropriate risk management.

So who are the other 3 potential board members he is bringing along for the ride?

Exactly. Sounds like they haven't been identified as yet based on this

“The four new positions would include myself and three other high-quality candidates chosen specifically to provide the best overall mix and blend of skills and diversity. I would seek the endorsement of the new board to become the chairman and president.”

How does he know what skills deficits he has to cover until he knows which 3 of the current board stays? What if none of the current board choose to stay under a Browne regime?

I would vote for whichever ticket is not going to get involved in football matters, like pushing list managers to overpay for a troubled, previous player to return - or exorbitant, long term contracts for players.

Diversity. That word. Always a worry. Box tickers don't thrill me. Why wasn't it enough to say I have the most qualified people ready to rejuvenate the club?
If he comes in and retains Buckley it's simply same shit, different day. He is apparently in the Buckley camp. It seems we are screwed either way.

2 well-articulated agenda

best strategy and people brought in

the Kordanator hasn’t impressed - speaks like... a receiver

Korda hasn’t impressed, but I’m not impressed with Browne either, seems too much boys club and can see him being a similar style to Eddie albeit with fewer “gaffs”. Murphy I like, hasn’t been around as long and pushed for the 2017 review which tells me there’s no sacred cows if things aren’t working out. Plus I think he would beat Browne in a ballot.

Moronic comment. What is wrong with saying: we think we have the best qualified people for the board? Diversity is a buzzword to please the SJW's and media.
If diversity is the key to success in any situation can you explain to me what kind of diversity we are seeking? If it is diversity of thought then why would I hear some people mentioning gender? When it comes to diversity of thought, I don't believe gender is any more relevant than a person's height or weight. Can you tell me what somebody thinks on a range of issues as soon as you know their gender? Perhaps it's a diversity of hair colour he is looking for or sexual preference. I wish he could be more specific.

Diversity has been shown to improve innovation in both the private and public sector. Diversity for diversity's sake is wrong, but it's not a bad thing in and of itself, and shouldn't be dismissed from the outset.

It's good that he's finally come out in the open about his intentions to challenge. Would be very disappointed if he came in promising change only to reappoint Buckley.

He’s 66 and an old mate if Eddie’s,not exactly a revolution in the making,To be honest I would rather see a new, younger generation of leaders take over the club and move it forward.
I think very differently to some of my best mates. Not sure how being an old mate is entirely relevant.

66 year-old bloke who has happily witnessed the decline of the club over the last few years, had little to say as we rolled down the hill, now makes a move only after the reign of Ed has already been ended.

Still no stated agenda.

Korda's 'letter' the other week strongly suggested a man on borrowed time, but pardon me if I have no excitement at all about his purported replacement.

Which part of my comment was wrong? I quoted exactly what you said, and you are a well known Trump supporter.
