List Mgmt. Priddis Signs On Again

According to priddis' brother the deal was done 14 Months ago.

The only stipulation was his body being ok which I guess is why he mentioned that in his interview.

Pissed me off that they can agree to a deal 14 months ago without knowing whether or not he will warrant selection or the side will need him next year.

Well, if that is true, there must have been a clause in his contract that if he played half the season in 2017, which he has done, then he will automatically be granted a new contract in 2018.

There should have been a clause that evaluated performance, not just durability. Ridiculous really.

It is the same with the club fairest and best. Instead of rewarding the players that play all season, it should be taken on a player's best 18 games (a bit like the world surfing tour) that way you actually reward the best player because if he gets injured, he is not penalised.

Anywhere, his signing just highlights how clueless our football department really are. They think that someone who can kick the ball higher than longer, is incapable of picking up an opposition player, has no defensive skills, is outrun by a tortoise, and regularly handballs either to a team-mates feet or at his head, is worthy of a new contract.

If true, that might be a good thing in that the signing doesn't indicate the match committee's current thoughts so he could still be seeing out his career in the WAFL. Shocking list management planning though.

I think the main criteria we should apply here is : which one of the successful clubs in todays era would have resigned him.

Now seeing as that the answer to that is that at least 2 would have cut him loose 1-2 seasons ago.....

And those two have 6 odd cups between them in just over ten years.

If true then he's still probably on Brownlow rates too...**** me we are officially Richmond and there is actually nothing anyone can/will do about it

Can't see any possibility of Priddis playing in the WAFL next year tbh unless he's coming back from a long injury stint or has a huge drop-off in his disposal numbers...

No chance of injury for priddis. He has the most durable body In the he AFL. Or is it the fact he can't run fast so doesn't extend his muscles and doesn't evade and manoeuvre so no chance of ligament injuries.

More power to the coach

Some really good posts on this thread, also some really ******* piss poor ones.

I think the club already has come to agreement with Mitchell to not play next year, understand Matty has a niggle and are giving him a vote of confidence to go on next year. He is the best trainer at the club, and I assume the list management team have already identified who will be moved on year and realise we cant fill all those spots with draftees. I honestly think with Nic back next year, Jk and Mcgovern in the spine, we can still have agenuine crack next year.

Agree with the comments about Nisbett though, time to move him on.
Premiership? Haha absolutely delusional. If Mitchell was the year extension and not priddis then maybe. But no ****en chance. And naitanui is no guarantee hell be back to his best he has had an acl. Takes 2 years to be back to your best.

From the " Sunday Times "

Vozzo reckons that Mitchell may play on if the team finishes off the season well and strongly pushing forward , less likely if our form continues to fall away and Vozzo also saying the club understands they cannot go into games with too slow a player group and are monitoring and working on this .

Sounds like the club are acknowledging the situation but as posted previously Priddis contract extension was preemptive sort off

Either way The Eagles need to show something for the rest of the season .for Mitchell to play on in 2018 .

"Sam, we really want you to play on. Obviously we can't have too many slow mids. By the way we just re-signed the slowest mid in the league. But sure, we want you to stay".

That wont matter if we finish the season really well top 6 probably or better and then the club will put it to Mitchell , Sam will be 35 or 36 yrs of age by then though

Replace sutcliff with Priddis and cockburn with subiaco Lol.

But on a serrious note thats a way over the top comment.

Silly silly move, time to move on a few players and rebuild, this current team is no where near premiership material.

Vozzo is clearly an absolute moron.

So, based on this mate of a mate of a brother info, it appears that we may have signed Priddis back in March 2016 on a one year deal for 2017 with an option for 2018 that has now been triggered

Whilst I'm not rapt that Priddis is staying on in 2018 given how his form has fallen away, I feel a bit better about this now

In March 2016 Priddis had just gone runner up to Fyfe in the Brownlow after winning it the year before so his form was fine. We also had no idea then that we'd be picking up Mitchell and the end of the year. So a 1+1 contract subject to certain criteria being met wasn't unreasonable

Now whether the conditions were stringent enough or not is a separate matter but at least the decision to have him play on in 2018 was made back then and not based on current form

Doesn't necessarily make it the right decision but cushions the blow somewhat

Ultimately, like with Thompson at Adelaide, it matters more whether he gets games than it does being on the list as an experienced backup.

This does make more sense and I hope it really is what happened. I think if Priddis is playing on, what happens around him is really important too. If he's happy to play as a backup, and we start to phase out some of our other veterans whilst we regenerate the list, it might not be too bad a decision. At the very least he will demonstraight exemplary professional standards to the younger guys.

Matty couldn't catch a niggle

a) Football is a results based business. You don't keep someone on thats past it because they do their best work monday to friday.
b) I too believe we can give it a crack next year. We have the building blocks and need some minor tweaks in players attitudes and players. This guy called Priddis is a player that we need to change from the regular team to be a chance along with LeCras and a few others.
c) He might have things to contribute during the team meetings but **** me Shuey and co aren't young idiots anymore. We don't need Priddis cause we need older heads.

Throw a salute up for that high ranking officer.

General Soreness.

I think you'll find Priddis will still be serving at the rank of Major Liability for the majority of his contract.
